God Who Does Not Change
This scripture described one of God's characters as an unchanging God. When the day is warm, we would love to be under a shadow. One time, when we were up north in Prescott, we were laying down in a public park in Prescott downtown. We lay our blanket down under the tree that provided cool shade while we were having our family time together. But whenever the sun was moving, the shadow was moving as well. We had to constantly move our blanket to follow the shadow. It gets tiring after a while. What if we are following God who makes us exhausting like the shadow. We can not rest in him.
God is not like the shifting shadow. God's love is unfailing love. He never changes his heart toward us. Rest in this truth! You are a child of God and a fellow citizen.
Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God's people and also members of his household, on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.(Ephesus 1:19-22)
