Soft Porn at the Checkout Counter - The Influence of Cosmopolitan

April 12, 2018

For years, this magazine has stumbled 12 year old boys and 12 year old girls at the grocery checkout counter. Cosmopolitan magazine is one of the most influential forces in the country, introducing sexual license to millions upon millions of young teenage women and men. Finally, Walmart is pulling the magazine from the checkout lanes. Feminists were nervous about the magazine. They were okay with women using certain means to manipulate men and to use men. They didn’t like men using women however, by objectifying them via soft porn. What is the Christian answer to these feminists’ ploys?

We interact with Pope Francis’s reported statement that “There is no hell.” Then, we discuss the recent Pew Research on the high incidence of Christians who are divorced and/or cohabiting outside of the bonds of wedlock. Lutherans have the strongest marriages, and Roman Catholics and Pentecostals are more likely to be divorced and/or cohabiting. But, the Hindus and Muslims in America beat out the Christians big time. Why is Christianity so weak morally in comparison with Hindus? Is there something wrong with American Christianity?

Sadly, America and much of the West is missing out on the Fifth Great Awakening going on right now. What a heart breaker! While the world is seeing an amazing work of God, the church in America and the English speaking nations are largely dying, dead, lukewarm, cold, and lifeless. The problem is that America refuses to acknowledge Christ as Lord and King. The sacred-secular divide has been deadly in the West.

Christians have largely abandoned the Girl Scouts and the Boy Scouts for its promotion of sexual practices referred to as abominable in Scripture. Now, the USDA has issued new “guidelines” for the homosexualizing of 4-H programs in the rural areas of the nation. The problem, of course, is that what the government funds the government controls. Is it time for Christians to create all of their own programs for children?

America’s monetary system has become increasingly brittle especially after the 1998 and 2008 market crashes. It’s been ten years since the last big crash, and the debt to GDP ratio is now about twice what it was before the last crash. But should we trust what the Book of Proverbs says about debt and dishonest weights and measures? Would you trust God’s Word on this one. How should Christians prepare for a collapse of the monetary system? How would we replace a dishonest monetary system with an honest system?

We visit the front lines of the battle against child sex trafficking on this edition of Generations. Jesus is concerned that we are caring for the “least of these,” and there is no more severe crime than that which is inflicted upon small children. And, the very worst of the child sex slave trafficking is found in Cambodia and Tunisia. Kevin Swanson gets a full report on recent rescues from Jeff Brodsky of Joy International.

In the 1770s, General George Washington had all the drummers and fifers drum a man who attempted a homosexual act all of the army, “never to return.” Now, the military is placing a lesbian at the head of the Air Force Academy as Commandant. What God has called the most debased sin, had become the highest possible virtue in our land. Shall we send our sons to the Air Force Academy, and place our sons under the authority of the Lesbian? We lay out some of the biblical constraints for those who still accept God’s Law as the eternal standard, regardless of what the emperor’s new clothesmakers are telling us about ethics.

Toys R Us contributed to Planned Parenthood over many years, and now the company is bankrupted (having lost too much of its customer base). Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face! This introduces a conversation on how many children a family should have. We answer this question with ten more questions. Whatever happened to the Full Quivering movement? Too much quivering, over all.

The Christian film genre is raking in the bucks - Over $700 million since 2014, (up from $110 million in 2011-2013). We analyze the most recent box office buster produced by the Erwin brothers, “I Can Only imagine.” Two themes are working side by side — a redemptive theme and a humanist theme. Which one wins the day? We also provide three basic guidelines by which Christians may incorporate film to the glory of God and for positive kingdom impact.

The president signed off on another $500 million for Planned Parenthood, and another $1.3 Trillion big government budget bill. But, what we are really concerned with is the Fox News and Wall Street Journal report on the president’s language. It is a reflection of the nation. The present sexual scandals do not seem to have much of an effect on the president’s approval rating. At root, character is of essence — far more important than rhetoric. And, the fear of God is the absolutely necessary component of character for the governance of a nation.
