Guest host Adam McManus interviews U.S. Army Lt. Col. Kevin Bouren, an avid listener of Generations Radio, who organized a Manhood Celebration for his 13-year-old son Brady last December. Based upon 1 Corinthians 16:13-14 which says, "Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. Do everything in love." Kevin invited 21 Christian men to come in from 9 states to share their Biblical counsel, write a letter, and give a symbolic gift about manhood which Brady will treasure for years to come.
Kevin’s thinking about how to raise a boy into a God-honoring Christian man, qualified to be an elder according to 1 Timothy and Titus, was profoundly influenced by three key books. 1. A Father’s Reward: Raising Your Children to Walk in the Truth by Phil Downer. 2. Raising a Modern-Day Knight: A Father’s Role in Guiding His Son to Authentic Manhood by Robert Lewis. 3. Stepping Up: A Call to Courageous Manhood by Dennis Rainey. In fact, Kevin strongly recommends the 10-week Stepping Up Video series which he hosted for fathers and their young sons.
One author wrote, "Today’s boys rarely, if ever, learn from the adults closest to them what it means to become a man – or learn when they become one. Instead they are left to search for answers in movies, song lyrics, the often ill-informed perspectives of their peers, and the mixed, even contradictory, messages from other ‘grown-ups’ around them. I believe this leaves many boys confused, hurting, and feeling terribly incomplete."
In many cultures, there is a rite of passage for young men from the Masai Tribe in Kenya Africa at 15 to the Lakota Indians at 12 to the Jews who celebrate with their bar mitzvah at 13. But what do Christians do?
The Manhood Celebration concluded with the knighting ceremony as Brady recited what a R.E.A.L. man is, as captured by Robert Lewis. A real man Rejects passivity, Expects a greater reward, Accepts responsibility and Leads courageously.
Kevin blessed Brady, saying, "Brady, you are my beloved son, in whom I am well pleased." Then, he asked him 2 questions.
"Brady, will you commit, from this day forward, that you will, with the Spirit’s help, love God and love others?" His son said, "I do."
"Brady, will you commit, from this day forward, that you will, with the Spirit’s help, reject passivity, expect God’s greater reward, accept responsibility and lead courageously?" His son said, "I do."
Kevin said, "By the authority God has vested in me as your father, it is my honor to dub you this day."
(placing sword on left shoulder) "The boy in you has died."
(placing sword on right shoulder) "The young man in you now lives."
(holding sword in front of Brady) "Arise a Squire of the 21st century, a young man of God." Kevin then presented the sword to his son.

Multi-culturalism, relativism, and homosexuality are some of the many forms of bondage being propagated through the world's systems today. Christ came to set us free from bondage like this. However, many are willingly sacrificing themselves and their children to them through the public schools and other forms of discipleship. Who is discipling your children? Are we willing to sacrifice for the sake of our children's souls? Steve Vaughan and Bill Jack discuss these issues on this edition of the program.

Evil very seldom presents itself in the form of a forked tail and pitchfork; instead, it is usually wrapped in charm, nice personalities, or empty verbal professions. This is becoming especially true in today's culture. Thus, it is vitally important to discern when there's danger and expose the evil behind such motives or words. How can we help our children do this? Steve Vaughan and Bill Jack address this question and discuss the importance of having our children trained by Christ and conformed to His image.

Does your daughter know the derivative of a cosine? Does she know how the pinocytic vesicle functions in the Amoeba? Does she know who Rome fought in the Punic was? Can she parse just about any Latin verb? And, does she know how to integrate knowledge into life? Most educated children have no idea how to solve problems, how to manage households, how to engage life and contribute to an economy. That is because most education sadly lacks the life integrative element. We provide some practical guidelines here for incorporating the life integration element in your children’s education.

Are young men looking for debt-free virgins without tattoos to marry? Or do they prefer college educated women who will work for a living and take birth control, so that the young men can keep playing video games? We look at two different articles that take a different angle at this question. Would it be better to marry a repentant prostitute who is at the feet of Christ washing His feet with her tears, over against some homeschooled girl who is a debt-free virgin without a tattoo, but unconverted? We discuss the consequences of sin, the problem of debt, the question of college for our daughters, but land on the Gospel as the most important message for our day.

States are mandating comprehensive sex education in perversions for all charter schools and government-funded homeschool programs. When homeschooling parents take the government dollars they subject their children to these mandates. It’s time to realize that what Caesar funds, Caesar will control. About 92% of evangelical kids are still in public schools, while 9 states mandate pro-homosexual teaching for 5-18 year old kids. At what point should Christian churches excommunicate parents who willfully submit their children to transgender and homosexual indoctrination? Are there real Christian churches that are concerned about the little lambs in their congregations, and what should godly pastors do? Finally, some Christians are realizing that education is not neutral, and it is time to insist on a distinctively Christian education and discipleship for our children.
