The Meaning of Following Jesus Part 14

July 6, 2009
As God's new scribes we are to understand the ongoing progress of the Kingdom of God without neglecting the old or the new revelation, we are to constantly review God’s ethics and apply them to the present in order to secure the future. As we begin to disciple individuals with the knowledge we have acquired giving them hope for the future and revealing what it is to be truly free.

Celebrating the 4th of July yet ignoring or denying its origins and true purpose is not only a gross misrepresentation of the facts but an insult to those who paid for our freedom with their lives, blood and possessions.

When God's people do not show forth the evidence of the Kingdom of God here on earth they make God out to be a liar. “God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?” (Numbers 23:19); “"For I the LORD do not change;” (Malachi 3:6). Neither has Jesus changed, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8).

God's goal is not to gather people just for the sake of an assembly or congregation, nor to project himself as the infallible anointed one for everyone to bow to him, but rather to disciple every born again believer with the full counsel of God as it is revealed in the law, the prophets, the historical books, the Gospels and the letters of the apostles to the early Christians.

We look to the past in order to understand God’s intended plan of progress for the human race. Jesus told his disciples "Therefore every scribe who has been trained for the kingdom of heaven is like a master of a house, who brings out of his treasure what is new and what is old." (Matt. 13:52). The past, present and the future are linked in every generation.

Just as Jesus was excited about multiplying Himself so too his followers must be excited at multiplying themselves in those who are being discipled to become sons and daughters of the living God. They all become a living, powerful force conquering evil in the world as they expanded the Kingdom of God.

Through us God offers to the world an alternative society. Have you noticed how fast the American system is becoming Marxist? Those who are timid call it socialist, no it is Marxist and keep an eye on how this administration is controlling more of people’s lives; their kind of change and new society is going to be implemented more by force and coercion than anything else. Christians must prepare to offer an alternative by applying God’s kingdom principles in all areas of life.

Jesus revealed that history is moving forward in a linear way and that progress will reach levels inconceivable to the human mind. Is the church reaching its goals foreordained by God for this generation? What is needed to arrive at God's good pleasure for our times?

The first followers of Christ were also the first generation to understand the importance of linking the past, present and future. They were to teach the following generation how the Kingdom of God is ever increasing over time and making its way reaching into new cultures and nations. Each generation must move forward with better understanding of God's ultimate goal and when one generation or more loses sight of the future another will rise up to pick up where the other left off and carry on with God’s masterplan.

The church was established by Jesus to give continuity to the will of God. Jesus’ presence on earth initiated a transition from the old creation to the dynamics of the new creation. His death and resurrection reaffirmed the reality of God’s continuation of his kingdom. The resurrection of Christ consolidated the authority given to him. This authority was to be delegated to his disciples, the new church. Then came the fall of Jerusalem completing the transition from the old to the new, all revelation was given in order for God’s people to build upon those principles. Do you think we are understanding the bridge of the knowledge of God from the old to the new?

Jesus knew after the day of Pentecost when the Spirit would come upon the disciples they were going to understand everything about the New Covenant church which would replace the old order of scribes and also the priesthood. The disciples would become the new teachers declaring the Word of God as it was revealed in the past and bring it to the new revelation. They were to learn to teach and do exactly as Jesus did with greater authority. The same is still true today.

About The Future of America

We want to help restore America's original foundation in biblical Christian principles which made it the most powerful and prosperous nation in the world in a relatively short time but America has not reached it full potential. Ideas have consequences and they are passed on from generation to generation. To eradicate error, the moral and ethical principles of the Bible must be firmly established in the hearts and minds of each individual. If America is going to survive, its citizens must become re-acquainted with its history, heritage and biblical immovable principles and apply them once again to all areas of life. We hope this program will inspire and challenge you so together we can fulfill our responsibility before God and country to make the difference for our generation many generations to come.
