How Are You Running?
“You were running well; who hindered you from obeying the truth?”
– Galatians 5:7
Is anyone hindering you from obeying Truth? Are people telling you things that simply aren’t true? Are you being pulled into the wrong crowd? Are you being attracted to the wrong things? Be very careful who you’re listening to and what influences you.
We’re living in a day like I’ve never seen. People are calling good evil and evil good. It’s a tragic problem when we’re being told what we can and cannot say. Political correctness is causing people to doubt God and His Word. Are you starting to doubt what you believe?
Oh Beloved, don’t let anyone cause you to question God and His Word. It’s imperative that you know what you believe and why you believe it. The philosophies of this present world are causing havoc everywhere we turn. Lies are everywhere; they’re in the daily news, social media posts, movies, magazine articles, and full of dangerous ideas about how you should live and what you should believe. But don’t listen to these lies!
Look at what God’s Word says.
In the book of Galatians, the Apostle Paul warns us to be careful about what you believe and what you do:
“You were running well; who hindered you from obeying the truth? This persuasion did not come from Him who calls you. A little leaven leavens the whole lump of dough. I have confidence in you in the Lord that you will adopt no other view; but the one who is disturbing you will bear his judgment, whoever he is.” (Galatians 5:7-10)
How are you running? Are you starting to stumble? Do you know in your heart that you’re starting to slip, and the slippery slope is beginning to be a big problem in your life?
The flesh can get you into trouble. Paul warns us about the dangers of walking in the flesh and not by the Spirit in Galatians 5:16-21:
“But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh. For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the Law. Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.”
Doesn’t this sound like our world today? Audacious acts of immorality and greed are everywhere we turn. How do you stand against sexual allurement that is as simple as clicking on a porn site on your smart phone? How do you stand when you desire to live a Holy life but your friends and family don’t have Biblical morals?
If you want to stand strong, the book of Galatians has the answers. Let’s look at Galatians 5:16 again, “But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh.”
These are powerful words: “you will NOT carry out the desires of the flesh.” How is this possible? Paul explains this further in Galatians 5:25-26:
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.”
“If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit. Let us not become boastful, challenging one another, envying one another.”
As you walk closely with the Lord in prayer and in Bible study you will be growing and maturing in Him. As the Word penetrates deep in your heart and soul and you choose to obey the Truth that you’re learning, you will begin to walk by the Spirit.
Because you are a believer you have a choice to walk in the flesh or by the Spirit. As you walk by the Spirit day by day you will have joy, you will have peace, and you will not carry out the desires of the flesh. God’s Word promises this. Isn’t that wonderful?!
Oh my friend, I trust you’re running well.
Press on dear one, and walk humbly before Him. If you’ve never studied the book of Galatians in depth, I encourage you to.

I’m sure that you have heard the statement that everything rises and falls on leadership. On November 8th America is going to the polls to elect the next President of the United States of America. Are there any parameters that might help us as a nation chooses a man or women who will take us into the future, for a future, rather than destruction? Let’s study together and see what God’s Word tells us about the qualities of our leaders.Victory Through Unity Now an army is a team. It lives, eats, sleeps, fights as a team. This individuality stuff is [nonsense]. The [people] who wrote that stuff about individuality for the Saturday Evening Post . . . know [nothing] . . . about real battle! —General George S. Patton, Jr., 3rd Army Speech,5/31/44 We Win
From the outset of the Revolution, it was apparent that God was on America’s side. Time and time again when all seemed lost, something humanly inexplicable happened.
