Why Socialists Hate to Spank Children

The Rod vs. Rebellion

What to do with the 12-year-old boy who rips the hijab off the Muslim girl - slap him with a felony or give him a whacky whack on the hiney? These knotty ethical matters have the secularists chasing their tails. So only about 0.2% of American children see any corporal punishment in schools, and the do-real-gooders are trying to eliminate that altogether. Kevin Swanson points out that the spanking states and the red states (Republican/conservative) almost completely correspond! Is there a worldview difference operating here? Here we present the biblical approach to spanking.

But What if Rob's Wrong?Rob Bell plays his hand, but Kevin Swanson throws a little Pascal's Wager on the table. What if Rob's Wrong? What if people really go to hell? What if sin turns out to be a really bad deal? The stakes are getting higher all the time, as we watch the breakdown of the Christian faith in the west. This ties into the kind of church you're attending. We summarize some of the deal breakers when it comes to compromise and weaknesses cropping up in the church that your family attends.

Civil Unions in ColoradoMore homosexual indoctrination bills are sliding through the California legislature while the Civil Unions Bill passed the Colorado Senate (and failed in the House Judiciary Committee by a single vote). Kevin Swanson reviews the Family Research Council Report on Homosexual Marriage, (just released). Dramatic changes are happening right now in western society as civilizations unravel everywhere, and the Generations program covers these developments. Will our families be affected by these trends?

Bikinis, Babes, and BiblesBethany Hamilton is the latest rage for Christian evangelicals, especially with the new motion picture that tells her inspiring story. References to the Bible were not removed from the scenes, but then again neither were the girls in bikinis. Kevin refers to the Modesty Survey conducted by Alex and Bret Harris (from the Rebelution) several years ago, as he considers the boundaries of Christian modesty. Would Mary, the mother of Jesus wear a bikini? What would Jesus say about this sort of thing? Then we step back and look at the influence of the Bethany Hamilton's and Miss America's on the progress of the Gospel in the 21st century. Could George Whitfield have used a Miss America on the catwalk to inspire the first Great Awakening?

From Lexington to ConcordThe American experience involves guns. There is no getting around it. From the pilgrims marching into the church yard in the 1630s to Lexington in 1775, Americans carried their guns. Here Kevin Swanson interviews Larry Cernik from the Appleseed Project, on our “Revolutionary” War heritage, and the men that founded the nation. Does proper self-government include the right use of weapons? Should a man be prepared to defend his household? Will pacifistic men fail to protect their homes? If you appreciate America’s heritage, you will not want to miss this engaging interview.

The World’s Greatest Generational ImpactLike it or not, if you live in America, your forefathers were the New England Puritans. While much of the initial vision for the nation has been squelched over the last 150 years, there still remains something of that heritage. Dr. Brian Abshire explains how the Puritans and Pilgrims influenced a socio-economic system over four hundred years of world history. Their work ethic, their systems of government, and their family-based economies served as foundations for self-government and freedom that resulted in tremendous blessings for Generations. This is an inspiring interview you must share with your family!

Homeschool Day at the CapitolOn Generations Radio we often speak of liberty, but we usually do not define it. For many liberty means license, for others it means living in a society where there is no restraining power in the magistrate. But the Bible speaks of liberty as the end of the law. The biblical concept of liberty teaches that men must exercise self restraint and pursue the law of God in their lives and interactions with others or external restraint will be exercised by oppressors. Equality under the law, private property ownership, righteous living; these are the elements that God says are both the blessings and the prerequisites of maximum liberty. Join Dave Buehner as he speaks with George Sechrist about true liberty and how the upcoming Homeschool Day at the Capitol event can help to secure liberty.

A Father's Story70% of boys are not grown up by 30 years of age (up from 30% in 1970), per a recent study reported in Newsweek Magazine. Unfortunately, the problem is not much better among homeschools and private schools. It takes a man to raise a man. So here is a story of a father who caught the vision early on. Randy Winton tells how he raised his boys, even when he was faced with the debilitating challenge of contracting Multiple Sclerosis.

China's Gender ImbalanceWhat happens to a nation with 22 million men who will never be married? Nations know what to do with these men. They usually go to war. Things are bound to get interesting by the 2020's. What a nation sows, that shall it also reap. When a nation sows abortions, or sex-selection abortions, will they have to face euthanasia and war in the next generation? Kevin Swanson demonstrates how the social planners set us up for disaster, on this edition of Generations.

A Division in the Homeschool Movement? The battle of the worldviews heats up in the home education movement when a conference committee dismisses a creationist, and embraces a speaker who denies the historicity of Adam and the fall of man. Do worldviews really matter? After 30 years of attempts to salvage a few remnants of a God-centered worldview/epistemology, will the Christian Home Education movement capitulate to the inclusivists? Every reformation defines itself at Nicea or at Chalcedon. Some will take the right side and some the wrong side of the salient issues. After the fall of western civilization; after the old liberal churches are cleared out; after the post-modern relativists are gone; when the dust settles, how many Christians still holding on to a distinctively biblical worldview will be left to carry on the faith? We may have a few more iterations to go. Here Kevin Swanson analyzes the teachings of Peter Enns, a new apologist for Biologos and an active player in the Christian home education movement.
