Unsung Heroes of the Faith - Amazing Missionary Stories

October 22, 2013
Often, the most amazing things in the kingdom of God happen in the most obscure corners of the world. Rebecca Davis has taken it upon herself to chronicle the great stories that happen in the lives of ordinary missionaries around the world. These are not the John Patons, William Careys, and Amy Carmichaels. These are ordinary people who have done extraordinary things, and their stories need to be told. Inspire your family with missionary stories that need to be told to the generations to come! Kevin Swanson interviews Rebecca Davis, author of the Hidden Heroes series of missionary stories on this edition of Generations.

Does God's law establish the standards for justice, or must we appeal to some arbitrary humanist law system? Kevin Swanson analyzes a World Magazine article on the Death Penalty, rendering kudo's where kudos are due. Also, we discuss the modern problem of slavery (mostly in Muslim countries), something that hardly draws any attention whatsoever from our pro-big government slavery leaders.

First, John Roberts sealed the deal and then the Republican Congress followed suit. There is no turning back now, when it comes to the growth of socialism in America. Forget the debt ceiling! Forget freedoms! The loyal opposition just sort of withered on the spot. But the fundamental issues are not political or economic - they are social. Divorce and the bane of broken families are essential for socialism and the current socio-economic configuration to continue its course.

The major media is discouraging brick and mortar college more than ever. Even the President of M.I.T. now recommends on-line learning as a better value. More needs to happen to prepare young people for the market, and that's why Kickstarter may be the best product on the market for this. Kevin Swanson points out that colleges are not yielding M.R.S. degrees, as in the past.

It should be no surprise in the raging Christian apostasy of the Western world to find apostatizing homeschoolers and atheist Boy Scouts. Sadly, more and more youth are embracing evolution, Marxism, atheism, and sexual anarchy. Boy Scouts in the UK are removing "duty to God" from their creed.

The welfare state has stripped the character of the inner-city family, and corrupted millions of people. Kevin Swanson challenges families to repent of welfare and food-stamps, and come to faith in Christ on this segment of Generations. He encourages an abandonment of social security and Obamacare, where there are opportunities to do so. Christians maintain a different socio-economic system than socialists.

Throughout the 1800s, Christian missionaries worked hard to turn cannibals into Christians. Now Christians are moving in the other direction. It's not hard to understand the elements of pagan culture. Pagans eat blood, get tattoos, mutilate their bodies, take their clothes off, cremate bodies at death, and perform infanticide. Sadly, Christians have been slowly incorporating these pagan rites into their own cultural practices. Kevin Swanson goes back to some of the basic elements of Christian belief and practice. Why do Christians convocate on the first day of the week? Why have Christians been pro-life from the beginning? Why do Christians refuse to get tattoos or mutilate their bodies? Why do Christians insist on modest clothing? Why do Christians refuse to drink blood? Why do Christians believe in justification by faith alone? Why do we as Christians refuse to separate God's forgiveness from our love and obedience to His commands? Culture is a true indication of the heart commitment.

The “Affordable care act” or as it is better known Obama care has become law what does it mean to families and the church? Does the law require everyone to order their very own set of government shackles? There are still opportunities to live free and avoid the governmental medical plantation; there are many alternatives to centralized medicine and government totalitarian control. Direct pay, sharing ministries and tort reform are but a few of the alternatives. Dave Buehner and Steve Vaughn discuss the ramifications of the new healthcare law and alternatives for both policy and families.

One of the greatest gifts a parent can give their children is the gift of reading. When the words on the page are animated in the child’s mind, it opens doors to imagination, higher thought and the work of the Holy Spirit through the Bible. Yet literacy in America is dropping, not just the ability to read, but also the ability to read with comprehension and enjoyment. Dave Buehner talks to Henry Skinner-Larsen about his Point to Reading program (http://www.pointtoreading.com/) to help parents build relationships and run beside their children and pass on this key to open the doorway to knowledge, imagination and personal holiness.

The Girl Scouts is turning into an organization that promotes lesbianism, feminism, abortion, and Planned Parenthood. Is this really something that Christians want to get behind? Kevin Swanson contrasts the Girl Scout vision with a biblical vision for femininity, recommending that Christians do not promote the Girl Scouts.

Christians often cite a creed and a confession with their lips, but forget what they confessed as soon as the cares and pleasures of life distract their mind from God to life. But Jesus is God and He came to bring life, and life to the fullest. Dave Buehner and Steve Vaughn talk about the danger of a Christian life among the thorns and thistles that can choke out fruit and life. Why do we so easily turn to false gospels and pursue lessor blessings when we should know better. What can the man of God do to live his creed credibly?
