State Enforced Control of Ministries - Principle vs. Pragmatism

November 12, 2019

The state is increasingly wanting to enforce control over adoption, addiction recovery ministries, and homeschooling. Some ministries capitulate and others do not. Will principle win over pragmatism? The devil will always attempt to destroy that which is good — first by regulation, and then by funding and control — the bad cop, good cop game.

The younger generation has far less stamina compared to the general population, by a factor of 300%. A full 75% of Gen Zers have left a job over mental health concerns. The Bible explains the cause: “They did not like to retain God in their thoughts.” The mental instability of the present generation is increasing fast, due at least in part to isolation. We contrast Robinson Crusoe with Tom Hanks in Castaway, on this edition of the program.

Every now and then, God does the impossible. In fact, it happens more often than we could imagine. People can’t seem to believe that God would have saved Nathan Bedford Forrest. Some have a hard time believing that God could have saved Jeffrey Dahmer. What can we say for Kanye West? On the one hand, nobody wants to be the elder son in Jesus’s story who can’t seem to bring himself to dance with the rest of the family on the return of the Prodigal. But mostly, we must never, never depreciate the power of the grace of God and the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

The 2019 elections produce losses for Republicans in Virginia and Kentucky. Both Wisconsin and Kentucky remain razor thin swing states, and abortion is the dividing issue. Two things are happening. America is in decline — twice as many Republicans are in favor of homosexual marriage as were in 2009. And, America is a house divided against itself. The polarization gap has grown from 27% to 86% (Republican to Democrat on presidential approval). It could hardly be worse.

How do we miss it? How do we miss the awesomeness of God in all of His works. All of it is glossed over, a sense of wonder is lost, and the real purpose for science and all study dissipates. Here we talk about the incredible ladybug, the beautiful peacock, the powerful and graceful Colorado mountain elk, and how all of it displays God’s glory, wisdom, power, and goodness.

This nation is on the brink of losing faith and freedom. Here is an eye-opening interview on the history of South Korea, the state of the church and the nation now. The nation appears to be on the brink of falling to communism, and the church may enter another season of very difficult persecution. We speak with the director of the South Korean Christian Home Education movement, and see parallels between America and South Korea. Both have a Christian heritage, and both are losing it fast. Millions of Christians in South Korea are praying fervently now. Will you pray for South Korea?

Interestingly, there is more profanity than ever in American TV programs, but the majority of Americans want an end to freedom of speech, especially for those who still retain some morals in the area of sexuality. 51% of Americans want an end to freedom of speech, and 54% of American millennials want to put Christians in jail for “hate speech.” Why is it that more cursing, fornication, and immorality amongst a people always seems to produce a curtailing of freedom and liberty? We’re thankful for 26 words contained in that first amendment that has stood in the way of tyranny for 220 years in this country.

The Twitter wars have raged, as Beth Moore takes the pulpit on Sunday Mornings and Pastor John MacArthur resists. Is Twitter the proper place to work this argument out? Sane voices have been drowned out by the Twitter mob. However, there is still a legitimate question operating here. How should one bring 1 Corinthians 14, 1 Corinthians 11, and 1 Timothy 2 together into a single coherent position on women involved in the church body? Kevin Swanson offers a careful exegesis to the salient passages.

The good news is atheism is dying out, and new Christians are crushing post-Christians in the worldview war. A few high profiles post-Christians tend to get more press than the new Christians. Even the atheists tell their de-conversion stories, and we take note of the root causes — the Christlessness of modern day Christianity, the issue-orientation, academic pride, and equating archeological and evolutionary guess work to science.

The international church is displacing the denominational church as Christ’s church expands in leaps and bounds around the world. These are some of the most exciting times, and the most dangerous times in the history of the church. Kevin Swanson speaks to Tim Kessee, of Dispatches from the Front, on the courage and faith of the international heroes of the faith making history in this generation. What makes for a hero? And how do they serve as such an inspiration to the rest of us?

Evolutionists are desperately seeking Lucy, Peking Man, and others to fill in as missing links until they find the missing links. Why the desperation? Why are the first human civilizations extremely intelligent, arguably more so than the present? The desperation has an ethical motivation to it.
