Do We Have the Right Conception of the Faith? - Five Reasons Not to Sing Psalms

May 24, 2019

The Psalms have fallen on hard times in the church. Why are the Psalms so neglected in our worship? Is it the intensity of the Psalms, the Godwardness of the Psalms, the holiness and wrath of God upheld by the Psalms, or the faith it takes to sing them? The Psalms represent the very heartbeat of the Christian life. There is something extremely wrong with a church that cannot sing Psalm 137, Psalm 94, Psalm 7, Psalm 51, and Psalm 75 in a worship service. The whole conception of Christianity has got to be wrong, if the Psalms would ruin a worship service in the modern church. TEACH YOUR CHILDREN THE PSALMS.

There is a growing divide with evangelicals, especially as we approach the 2020 elections. The President for the entire Southern Baptist denomination gives approval for the pro-abort vote and endorses “LGBT rights.” Lecrae, the rapper is leaning the same direction. If some sins are more heinous, how does the Bible lay that out especially when it comes to the civil magistrate?  Kevin Swanson identifies the rub in these discussions — and it appears to be a commitment to Marxism and social justice vs. biblical law as it directs the civil magistrate. However, there is something even more basic going on here. . . and that is the very Gospel itself.

Now the nation has defined marriage wrongly, there is no use in the Christian respecting the state’s involvement in the institution. Shall the Christian Church respect a marriage of a man and his pet? Of course the true church will ignore Obergefell. True Christians cannot support a wedding of a man and his dog. But, is this the time for Christian families, Christian churches, and the state governments to ditch the marriage license altogether? Interesting discussion on this edition of the program.

Increasingly, women are writing the books and the Bible studies when men fail to lead. Will the Southern Baptist Church yield on the feminist point? Will pragmatism prevail? Does it really do any good to oppose God’s order of things? Must we ignore 1 Corinthians 14:34?

In the 19th and 20th centuries, books were being written by wicked men (Hawthorne, Steinbeck, etc.) to convey wicked thoughts and teaching. Today, after years of indoctrination in this way of thinking, America is finally waking up to the reality of what this kind of thinking actually teaches. School shootings are on the rise in the U.S. Kevin Swanson and Bill Jack discuss the STEM School shooting in Colorado on this edition of the Generations radio program.

There is an aggressive, insidious, international plot that is in full swing now—intended to capture the hearts, minds, and souls of children all around the world. Not a single nation is safe from this powerful, international plan. Why are the schools universally corrupted in conservative states and liberal states alike? Have you ever asked that question? We did on this edition of the program of an education historian—Alex Newman. Editor for The New American, Alex Newman recently worked on an edition entitled “Rescuing our Children.” Don’t miss this revealing interview!

Christians are still ahead in terms of babies born in the world, but the Muslims are gaining fast. The Western existentialist worldview is fast working to destroy Christian countries, implode their birth rates, and educate each successive generation in the corrupting worldview. But, this bad worldview is corrupting Muslim nations too. Which nations will they corrupt first and fastest? The faith to have babies is a practical faith, a real faith, and yields to life.

Raised in a fundamentalist Christian home, this pastor of a number of evangelical churches for the past twenty years. . . now says, “It was all faked.” He trace his doubts to the 8th grade when he was reading the Greek fables. Is an education in the vain philosophies of the Greeks essential to a Christian paideia/education? We analyze Pastor Dave Gass’s confession of apostasy on this edition of Generations. How should this guide our Junior and High School education program for our Christian children?
