Understanding God's Righteousness Part 6

June 23, 2011
No social structure is void of ethics.  Since God is the only source of good ethics it is He who defines what is right and what is wrong. He is the ultimate authority who defines what a moral person is.  Society reflects people’s morality. Man’s first responsibility is to God and then to his fellow man as revealed in God’s law.

A Christian’s calling is for the transformation of self and culture according to the Revealed Word of God. That means every area of life is ethical and spiritual. God the Creator gives this world its value, not man. This is the reason Christians are to promote the will of God on earth as it is in heaven (Matthew 6:10).

Only a biblical Christian is capable of producing righteousness at the personal and social level. A valid question for us to answer is; are Christians applying God's ethics or are they confused about what that means?

The fiercest battle to understand the righteousness of God is in our mind.  We have to deal with our sinful nature on a daily basis.  The carnal mind we have consistently battles against our new nature in Christ.  We have so much of the fallen state in our mind and heart that is contrary to God's righteousness; the only way to keep it under control is by understanding how to effectively renew our minds with God's revealed truth and the work of the Holy Spirit.

Be perfect, is the command to every child of God, before Christ, during Christ’ earthly life and after Christ. How we think, speak and act must be an expression of God’s righteousness. Our personal life must match our understanding of God’s philosophy for social life. God reflected in us is how the world will know Him.

What is God's righteousness?  Why is it vital for a person's wellbeing to understand God's righteousness?  How does it relate to the family and the rest of society?  Jesus connected God's righteousness with people's wellbeing not as a new concept but a reminder that everything proceeds from God who is the only sure source of truth.

A nation is not about its borders but rather about its people.  The prophet Ezekiel of old, was sent to warn Israel about God's judgment that was coming upon the land because of the unrighteousness that was rampant.  God detailed to Ezekiel the calamity that was eminent. Proverbs 21:21 tells us how to avoid disaster and judgment,  "Whoever pursues righteousness and kindness will find life, righteousness, and honor.

Jesus connected God's righteousness with national wellbeing when he said: "But seek first the kingdom of god and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." (Matt. 6:33).  Is righteousness important to God in spite of his grace; you bet it is!

Men may achieve great things but without God's ethics of the  moral foundation whatever men discover may make them think they are greater than God.   It is clear that as a nation we have turned our eyes to the giants of the intellectual and scientific world and have turned our backs to God's righteousness.  Our only way back to greatness is to once again embrace the righteousness of God.

Five Star General Omar Bradley, field commander in North Africa and Europe in WW II, he was the last surviving five-star commissioned officer of the U.S. and the first general to be selected Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said:” “America today is running on the momentum of a godly ancestry, and when that momentum runs down, God help America. We have grasped the mystery of the atom and rejected the Sermon on the Mount. The world has achieved brilliance without conscience. Ours is a world of nuclear giants and ethical infants.”

Sin is the transgression of the ethical and moral law of God. This is the very reason why the Scriptures warn us to choose life or death, blessings or curses. The choice is ours and we have no one to blame but ourselves if we choose to violate God’s righteousness as revealed in His ethical and moral law.

About The Future of America

We want to help restore America's original foundation in biblical Christian principles which made it the most powerful and prosperous nation in the world in a relatively short time but America has not reached it full potential. Ideas have consequences and they are passed on from generation to generation. To eradicate error, the moral and ethical principles of the Bible must be firmly established in the hearts and minds of each individual. If America is going to survive, its citizens must become re-acquainted with its history, heritage and biblical immovable principles and apply them once again to all areas of life. We hope this program will inspire and challenge you so together we can fulfill our responsibility before God and country to make the difference for our generation many generations to come.
