Understanding God's Righteousness Part 1

June 16, 2011
What is God's righteousness?  Why is it vital for a person's wellbeing to understand God's righteousness?  How does it relate to the family and the rest of society?  Jesus connected God's righteousness with people's wellbeing not as a new concept but a reminder that everything proceeds from God who is the only sure source of truth.

A nation is not about its borders but rather about its people.  The prophet Ezekiel of old, was sent to warn Israel about God's judgment that was coming upon the land because of the unrighteousness that was rampant.  God detailed to Ezekiel the calamity that was eminent. Proverbs 21:21 tells us how to avoid disaster and judgment,  "Whoever pursues righteousness and kindness will find life, righteousness, and honor.

Jesus connected God's righteousness with national wellbeing when he said: "But seek first the kingdom of god and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." (Matt. 6:33).  Is righteousness important to God in spite of his grace; you bet it is!

Men may achieve great things but without God's ethics of the  moral foundation whatever men discover may make them think they are greater than God.   It is clear that as a nation we have turned our eyes to the giants of the intellectual and scientific world and have turned our backs to God's righteousness.  Our only way back to greatness is to once again embrace the righteousness of God.

Five Star General Omar Bradley, field commander in North Africa and Europe in WW II, he was the last surviving five-star commissioned officer of the U.S. and the first general to be selected Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said:” “America today is running on the momentum of a godly ancestry, and when that momentum runs down, God help America. We have grasped the mystery of the atom and rejected the Sermon on the Mount. The world has achieved brilliance without conscience. Ours is a world of nuclear giants and ethical infants.”

Sin is the transgression of the ethical and moral law of God. This is the very reason why the Scriptures warn us to choose life or death, blessings or curses. The choice is ours and we have no one to blame but ourselves if we choose to violate God’s righteousness as revealed in His ethical and moral law.

If you have a concordance of the Bible I encourage you to count how many times you find the words “righteous” and “righteousness.”  The number of these terms also depend on the translation of the Bible that you may have, nevertheless, in most translations those words appear over 500 times. Do you think God places great importance on the word righteousness? Yes He does!

The concept of righteousness is something that is lost in the American way of life. For hundreds of years it had a very special and powerful meaning. Nowadays we do not hear about social righteousness, however, we do hear much about social justice or the word justice. Justice is a synonym of righteousness just as much as righteousness is a synonym of justice. I think you get the picture?

The severe political crisis the nation is experiencing is not due to the political party that is occupying the White House, the Congress, the governorships or states legislatures or the judicial powers at all levels. The crisis is due to unjust people that rebel against the moral law of God yet they are at the controls.

"Unless bureaucracy is constantly resisted it breaks down representative government and overwhelms democracy. It is the one element in our institutions that sets up the pretense of having authority over everybody and being responsible to nobody."--Noah Webster

"If a republican government fails to secure public prosperity and happiness, it must be because the citizens neglect the divine commands, and elect bad men to make and administer the laws."--Noah Webster. How long can a country survive when corruption is at the base of their culture?  What does the future of such a nation look like?

About The Future of America

We want to help restore America's original foundation in biblical Christian principles which made it the most powerful and prosperous nation in the world in a relatively short time but America has not reached it full potential. Ideas have consequences and they are passed on from generation to generation. To eradicate error, the moral and ethical principles of the Bible must be firmly established in the hearts and minds of each individual. If America is going to survive, its citizens must become re-acquainted with its history, heritage and biblical immovable principles and apply them once again to all areas of life. We hope this program will inspire and challenge you so together we can fulfill our responsibility before God and country to make the difference for our generation many generations to come.
