The New Testament and the Law of God Part 4

December 22, 2009
The New Testament letters reveal that the law of God is binding. There are many examples to corroborate this. The relation of the New Testament moral and ethical teachings are sustained on God's principles established in the Old Testament. Something that did change was all things pertaining to the ceremonial law. God's grace has been distorted in order to justify the false teaching that the moral and ethical law was done away with. Somehow modern Christians cannot accept God's requirements for righteous living in the Old Testament.

In the New Testament we read that we have the same requirements and that every aspect of our lives should develop and reflect the relationship of love with God (Matthew 22:37). As a result of that relationship God’s people demonstrate their uniqueness and quality of life, "But as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written, "You shall be holy, for I am holy." (1 Peter 1:15-16).

The Gospels reveal how Jesus’ teachings were based upon the law of God and by doing so he left no room for misunderstanding about the continuity and value of applying the law of God and the prophet's declarations. It is to our benefit and to the glory of God to submit our thoughts, attitudes and intentions to the law of God.

God’s ethic and moral law does not change with time and as we have previously seen, His law reveals His unchanging character. So it was a sad day when in Christianity we began to hear that the moral and ethical Law of God was throne out with the ceremonial law and declared that it is no longer valid in the New Testament. You don't want to miss this eye opener. This is the reason the church is contributing to the destruction of Christianity.

Jesus came to execute God's will as revealed in His law and the prophets not to abolish what God had already established as the moral basis for human conduct, stability, freedom and prosperity. Jesus, being the son of God could not destroy the moral law of God and neither should we. As hard as the law of God may seem to us we are to obey it.

The only way for God to be glorified through His people is if they manifest a higher ethical conduct than those who do not know the God of the Bible. Jesus emphasized that he did not come to abolish the law or the prophets. (Matthew 5:17).

"Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them" (Ephesians 5:11). How do we expose the works of darkness to a world that thinks they have the right perspective of life?

Jesus made an uncompromising warning that should make every Christian tremble: “…but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet” (Matthew 5:13). Does that sound like He has changed his requirements to adapt to modern times?

Just as God called Israel to be a testimony to other nations, the same is true for the church which is called to manifest His knowledge, wisdom and authority in changing the culture from social sin to social righteousness. The only way it can be accomplished is for the continuation of God's law as a moral standard of righteousness to be implemented. Jesus came to fulfill and thus reinforce these truths for all times.

God's morals attributes are the same as His moral law. There is no reason for God to change His standards, nor does He seek man's approval to implement His moral laws. Jesus made it very clear that he was not coming to change God's moral law but rather to fulfill it, when he said "I can do nothing on my own...I seek not my will but the will of Him who sent me." (John 5:30).

Has God changed his requirements for righteousness? Is God's moral law still in effect today or did Jesus change all that? The revealed law of God expresses the nature of His character; since it is the means by which God announces His moral perfection and presence among men.

About The Future of America

We want to help restore America's original foundation in biblical Christian principles which made it the most powerful and prosperous nation in the world in a relatively short time but America has not reached it full potential. Ideas have consequences and they are passed on from generation to generation. To eradicate error, the moral and ethical principles of the Bible must be firmly established in the hearts and minds of each individual. If America is going to survive, its citizens must become re-acquainted with its history, heritage and biblical immovable principles and apply them once again to all areas of life. We hope this program will inspire and challenge you so together we can fulfill our responsibility before God and country to make the difference for our generation many generations to come.
