The Missing Ingredients in American Politics Part 2

March 8, 2016
Lincoln wrote after discouraging days of personal sorrow and military defeats, comments that also appear in Lincoln's Second Inaugural Address of 1865. John Hay, one of Lincoln's secretaries, said that in this writing, "Mr. Lincoln admits us into the most secret recesses of his soul .... Perplexed and afflicted beyond the power of human help, by the disasters of war,...he shut out the world one day, and tried to put into form his double sense of responsibility to human duty and Divine Power; and this was the result. It shows -- the awful sincerity of a perfectly honest soul, trying to bring itself into closer communion with its Maker." Unfortunately, America's politics of today have left God out.

Nothing captures the nation’s attention more than the presidential elections. From the beginning, people have struggled to make sense of their civil society when the experimental form of American government was launched after winning the War for Independence. People have made the presidency nothing short of an imperial one while bypassing the other federal branches of government created with equal powers for the purpose of maintaining checks and balances. The new nation, with her experiment of civil government, was to be a continuation of their colonial liberties, justice and blessings just as the forefathers, the Pilgrims and Puritans, had envisioned. So what is missing to get America back.

Jesus prepared His disciples to launch the new era of God’s Kingdom to all nations. Without a doubt, those nations were going to fight them back against God’s culture. The Great Commission (Matt. 28:18-20) has been going on for two thousand years, and God’s new society (or civilization) in Christ will continue to expand. Daily, God’s people must eliminate any manifestation of the virus of greed. Things and material wealth must not blind us; we must be careful that the more wealth we acquire that we do not lose sight of our true purpose. Do not work for earthly things, rather make treasures in heaven.

Those who participate in greed ask for God’s judgment now and in the future. Jesus warned against all types of greed (covetousness), His warned about the spiritual dangers of allowing personal wealth to misguide individuals for eternity. "Whoever is greedy for unjust gain troubles his own household, but he who hates bribes will live." (Proverbs 15:27)

After the fall of Adam and Eve, the human battle with the virus of greed is dealt with throughout the Bible. Greed is a manifestation of sinful human nature and is no respecter of persons, not even God’s chosen people are exempt from having to fight against it. "For the wicked boasts of the desires of his soul, and the one greedy for gain curses and renounces the Lord." (Psalm 10:3) Greed is the fruit of sin and God condemned it because it is contrary to His will.

The day the virus of greed conquered the perfect person in the garden of Eden was a day of disaster for the human race because—Eve, desired the forbidden fruit. Once Eve evaluated the offer given her by Satan, she arrived at the conclusion that it was “good”: “She saw,” “she took,” “ she ate,” “she gave … and Adam ate.” Notice: Eve evaluated and “saw that it was good” and a delight to the eyes, or beautiful to look upon. The beauty she saw became a powerful attraction to disobey God’s command, “You shall not.” Greed will cause us to override all that is good regardless of the consequences.

Human history is always plagued with struggles, and greed is at the top of the list. For some people it is the means to get out of a life of want. It is also a way to stay ahead of the game for those who see money as the means of security and happiness. This struggle unfolds at the individual level, as well as at the national level. The reality is that not all greedy people and nations become wealthy; nevertheless, the virus of greed doesn’t go away that easily, regardless of the level people may find themselves in. Is everyone contaminated with the virus of greed? No, not everyone suffers from this wrong attitude, just like not everyone suffers from the same disease.

The pope should not have any problem in knowing the purpose of walls and especially that there is a Wall where he lives. It is huge! The Vatican City is a fortress with a protective wall around it for the protection of popes from their enemies. It is definitely a wall that can be interpreted as an anti-immigration wall. Is pope Francis revealing a double standard in his character and message of compassion?

The illegal immigration problem does not originate with the USA, so why is the Pope blaming and condemning it? The root cause of immigrant influx is in the country of origin of the migrants who want to cross illegally. Admittedly, the U.S. government has much blame for the crisis on the border because it doesn’t enforce its immigration laws. As of now, the U.S. rewards those who violate those laws and criminals and terroritists take advantage. If the pope, as the senior pastor of Catholics, is serious about “No more death! No more exploitation!” then he should be as brave and obedient as the prophet Jonah and take the message to the strong Catholic countries and preach that they convert to God and depart from their evil ways full of corruption, tyranny and destruction. Also, he should lead by example and open up the Vatican coffers to meet the needs of the needy like he wants us to do.

As the head of a state, the pope spoke at the Mexican border against capitalism, and American Immigration policy. Every part of his message has a moral and political foundation. He criticized the idea of building a wall at the border, however, in the pope’s visit to Cuba, before his visit to the United States in September 2015, the pope ignored those who have died in their attempt to escape the hellish communist paradise. He didn’t criticize the communist government for all the misery, child prostitution and political prisoners. What do we make of that, double standards, or politics as usual?
February 24, 2016
With the Pope’s visit to Mexico, an obvious question needs to be asked; why did the pope select the border city of Juarez and El Paso to have a massive meeting? Was it politically motivated or truly pastoral in nature? Are politics empty of morality? You have heard the old saying: politics and religion don’t mix; it sounds logical but is it?

About The Future of America

We want to help restore America's original foundation in biblical Christian principles which made it the most powerful and prosperous nation in the world in a relatively short time but America has not reached it full potential. Ideas have consequences and they are passed on from generation to generation. To eradicate error, the moral and ethical principles of the Bible must be firmly established in the hearts and minds of each individual. If America is going to survive, its citizens must become re-acquainted with its history, heritage and biblical immovable principles and apply them once again to all areas of life. We hope this program will inspire and challenge you so together we can fulfill our responsibility before God and country to make the difference for our generation many generations to come.
