How to Love Your Neighbor as Yourself Part 1

March 6, 2020

All of creation is guided by laws. The entire universe has laws that are fixed, otherwise it would be going haywire in every direction. The same is true of social living. We must have law and order to survive. Otherwise, we would live in anarchy, where everyone does what is right or convenient in their own eyes.

“Morality is the quality of an action which renders it good; the conformity of an act to the divine law, or to the principles of rectitude. This conformity implies that the act must be performed by a free agent, and from a motive of obedience to the divine will. This is the strict sense of morality. But we often apply the word to actions which accord with justice and human laws.” -- Webster Dictionary 1828. Where do true moral concepts come from? Where can we learn the principles of right and wrong behavior? This is the most important choice.

God tells his people very clearly what he has called us to do and to be. There are principles a civilization cannot live without; they are as important as air, food, water and shelter for human survival. Values are the concepts we embrace that define what is right and worthwhile in life. To have a good structure for living we need laws, rules and guidelines to follow.

Hungering and thirsting for God is an all-consuming passion that drives every aspect of life. Have you ever been out in very hot weather and you don’t have any water with you or have access to water? Once you are able to satisfy the extreme thirst you are feeling it is very wonderful. Satisfying our spiritual thirst does not come from occasional or partial obedience—it’s a full surrender.

The Bible we know as the Word of God, is a book that has no equal in all of human history. It is the book of all books. Not one area of importance is excluded. What is very painful to witness is the tragic results of people dying spiritually even with the Living water and the Bread of Life within their reach to sustain them. Let us explore this topic on how we can attain true wisdom.

Suffering due to evil will confront all of us sooner or later. We can wait until we are faced with it to barely begin to think about it or how to handle it. But by then we have lost valuable time that we could have been better prepared. In Christ, we have the amazing ability to experience deep sorrow and suffering but at the same time experience joyfulness, but not without first diligently seeking a close walk with God. How do we achieve this?

What can shape us better, suffering or health and prosperity? Wishful thinking wants to say health and prosperity. In a fallen world where we are threatened on every side, no one is exempt from suffering to some degree or other. The outcome of suffering depends on through whose eyes we are viewing pain and suffering. Even people of faith view suffering as entirely negative — a sign of God’s disapproval. So, how should we view suffering? Is all suffering created equal?

For a man to think he’s going to stop the purpose of God just doesn’t work. Can’t be done. God’s purposes will never be frustrated, and his punishment can’t be avoided. Why not be with Him? Why not be on His side? When you learn how to rest all your burdens on the Lord, you will know not to fight or fuss at God when things go wrong or not exactly as you thought or hoped they would.

In life, we are in constant conflict either with ourselves or with others and that is normal this side of heaven, not only because we live in a fallen world, but also because we have a fallen nature. God’s character of justice will always do the right thing. Which is why even in situations that God allows in our lives, that we don’t like, we must always trust him that he is doing the right thing to teach us something of eternal value even if he has to allow temporal discomfort.

It is a human thing to run into conflicts with others to some degree or another. Wherever there are two or more people together there will always be conflicts. There are a variety of survival mechanisms that people develop, and many times people use these same mechanisms with God because it has become a pattern. But we can never pull the wool over God eyes on anything. We should always, at the very least, treat him with the utmost respect even if we disagree with him.

The complete rule of God in all of the universe and in all of creation is more than obvious in the past, present and will continue to be in the future. For centuries men have clenched their fists at God. They have gritted their teeth and attempted to spit at the face of God and continue to do it every single day. History is covered with the wreckage of men and nations that have attempted to fight against God, to no avail. We would do well to learn from their lesson.

About The Future of America

We want to help restore America's original foundation in biblical Christian principles which made it the most powerful and prosperous nation in the world in a relatively short time but America has not reached it full potential. Ideas have consequences and they are passed on from generation to generation. To eradicate error, the moral and ethical principles of the Bible must be firmly established in the hearts and minds of each individual. If America is going to survive, its citizens must become re-acquainted with its history, heritage and biblical immovable principles and apply them once again to all areas of life. We hope this program will inspire and challenge you so together we can fulfill our responsibility before God and country to make the difference for our generation many generations to come.
