Lost Your First Love

December 19, 2019

In Revelation, there’s an admonition for Christians to remain focused and not lose their first love.

David from Florida called in about this expression. He had been told that not losing your first love means to “remain energized” and “stay 100% sold out” and make sure you’re always doing good works.

But the group that received this admonition from God was already busy standing up for truth and stomping out evil doctrines!

So in this short clip, I share with David what it really means to remain focused on our first love, Jesus.

Enjoy!

In this short clip, I respond to Jerod and discuss what our role is in response to the temptation of sin. I hope this is clarifying and helpful as you confront enemy ideas in your thought life.

Don’t we need to be obedient to be blessed by God?” Sometimes I’m asked questions like these, and this was what was on Mike’s mind when he called in. In this short clip, I address obedience in light of God’s grace. I hope you’re encouraged and inspired. This is one that you don’t want to miss!

Wendy from Boston called in to tell me that she has been taught that some believers will be disappointed in Heaven, because they won’t get as many rewards as other Christians. Is this true? Will there be disappointment in Heaven? And what about the idea of differing quantities of rewards? In this brief clip, I address Wendy’s fears and highlight the truth. In this short clip, I address this important question and how it affects the way that we approach temptation. Over 30 years ago, Rick was sentenced to 168 years in prison. While inside, he became a believer and learned a great deal about God’s grace. Now, Rick has been released and has a heart for Jesus. Recently, he was invited to become a chaplain at a campground but was told by others that he was not qualified to minister to others because of his past. Rick called in to our radio program to ask if it would be a mistake for him to take the position as a campground chaplain. In this short clip, I address Rick’s concern. In many ways, this speaks to our own fears of being unqualified to share the good news with other people. I hope it is encouraging to you today!

Jack called in to our radio program to ask about depression and the believer. In response to Jack’s question, I reference Lamentations and Psalms and discuss potential roots of depression. I also discuss that deeper place within us – deeper than our brain or body – from which we can be counseled and comforted by Christ himself. I hope this is a real encouragement to you today if you suffer from bouts of depression. And if you know someone who might benefit from this, consider passing it along to them as well.

Rarely do believers hear messages on their righteousness. When they do, these messages are often couched in “that’s just how God sees us.”  But does God see reality? Are you really righteous? And how does this relate to you being born of the Spirit?  In this full-length message, I address 10 myths that hinder us from realizing our righteousness.

The believer’s righteousness is the meat of the Gospel message. Are we really as righteous as Jesus? What does it mean to be righteous? How is it more than just being “clothed” in Christ’s righteousness? Here I discuss our righteousness from various angles, and this important message has the potential to both surprise and encourage you.
