At a wedding ceremony, the groom and bride say vows, promising their commitment to each other. In our union with God as we accept Jesus as Savior, we can insert Gods name into the vows as a picture of our promise to Him: Do you take this God to be your lawfully wedded Savior, to love and honor Him to live together according to His Word, forsaking all other gods, keeping only unto Him as long as you live?
Israel married God in this manner. He saved them from Egypt and called them His people, after which they turned their backs on Him and sought after other gods. The Bibles principles are timeless; the story of Israel, Gods wife who left Him and became sinful, is not far from our own story as Christians. Many times we commit to following God, but then we turn away and go back to our sin.
In this fourth book of The Royal series, we are exploring Prophetic Language and how God used the words and lives of prophets to speak to His people. In the book of Hosea, God instructed the Hosea the prophet to marry a prostitute as a symbol of the infidelity of Israel to Himself. But now God calls His people Israel back to Him. In this, there is a message for us as well: God says, I still love you and want to restore My relationship with you, but its up to you to accept My invitation.

God has chosen us to be His people and our ability to worship Him in Spirit and in Truth is intimately tied to our joy, fulfillment, and character; so lets get it right!
