How Does One Live Under Socialist Tyrannies? - When To Flee America or Any Other Tyranny

May 28, 2012
Kevin Swanson responds to an Australian father's question concerning living under increasing measures of socialism and government control of business and family. There are families who are not too keen on living with tyranny. But what do you teach your children? And do you put up with it indefinitely? At what point would Christian families flee an area should the tyranny start crossing family jurisdictional boundaries.

Why did Tyler Clementi jump off the George Washington Bridge? Why don't his evangelical parents condemn Tyler's sin of homosexuality, and encourage other young people to repent of this sin? Why do courts in New Jersey convict a man of a bias crime for shaming his homosexual roommate, but they won't go after Ku Klux Klanners marching through Jewish neighborhoods? The Tyler Clementi case introduces a good many questions, in a morally decadent age. Kevin Swanson carefully addresses a number of ethical issues that stem from this case. What should Dharun Ravi have done when faced with a severely morally-compromised roommate? Does the civil magistrate have a responsibility to enforce bias crimes like this?

"Celebrate mother's day! Encourage mothers NOT to have children. . . or better yet, kill their children." Our humanist institutions try to put a nice face on abortion, but they are losing ground. Planned Parenthood is celebrating mother's day by encouraging donations to their worldwide efforts to pervert motherhood. But less people call themselves pro-choice than ever before. The majority of Americans now call themselves "pro-life." Will this help the Personhood effort in Colorado? Kevin Swnason interviews Susan Sutherland from Personhood Colorado on efforts to place a referendum on the ballot.

Here’s the $100 million question that we keep asking ourselves: “Are there aspects to modern life that can be counter-productive to the way God wants us to live life?” Should we teach our children to plant gardens, build houses, stay out of debt, and be self-sufficient? Should they be less reliant on big government, big agribusiness, and big energy companies? How do we teach our children to take dominion? Jack Dody from the Christian Homesteaders Association provides some food for thought on this edition of Generations.

It's as odd as a museum exhibit - a highly-productive daughter about the business of the family economy in the 21st century. She's not enslaved to the local business owner. She's not plugging herself into the matrix. She's working in her father's economy and she lives in her father's home. A good many daughters leave home, and abandon the concept of home. They may come home on Christmas, or every other Christmas if they feel like it. But there are still a few daughters who retain the value of family life and home life. Kevin Swanson interviews Sarah Bryant, author of the book "My Father's Daughter." She's twenty years old, she's doing college at home studying theology, and she works in her father's home.

Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban sees a meltdown in college education following outrageously high prices, burgeoning college debt, increasingly poor results, and an ever-tightening job market. Kevin Swanson presents a mix of three components that are essential for the preparation of our children for the macro-economy and their own household economies.

The ongoing dismantling of the faith in the west continues. The same organizations that go for a macro-evolutionary explanation for man's origin are softening on homosexual marriage. Who would have thought? Meanwhile, the rest of the church is squabbling their way into oblivion. A church in Oregon sues a disenfranchised member for slandering the church on the blogosphere. So Dave googles Kevin Swanson and discovers that he's associated with the word "cult"! But Kevin decides not to sue anybody for it.

Why do the Democrats use the Bible to defend their positions, but the Republicans are real hesitant to do so? Barack Obama is like to use the Bible to back his commitments to homosexual marriage and the ongoing destruction of the family in this country. As the old saying goes, Judas went and hanged himself. . .Go thou and do likewise. Here we discuss the Bible's handling of the evils of slavery and homosexuality.

What we are facing, according to author Douglas Wilson, is a multi-generational decline in fatherhood that began in the 19th century. Or institutions haven’t helped either. The average family is in 5 times more debt (per the GNI) than they were in 1900. They’re under 6 times more government control/spending (per the GNI), and they’re under 7 times more corporate slavery. The average dad is constricted by 1,000 Lilliputians. His church is effeminized. He’s five generations away from halfway functional fathering. So now what? Douglas Wilson gets back to the basics in this important interview on his new book, "Father Hunger."

FIn the northern reaches of Scandinavia, there still beats within the hearts of some a desire for liberty, for freedom and faith. Kevin Swanson interviews Juhani Paavolainen, a homeschool father of five. Secular education has well advanced in these countries and skepticism rules in the public sphere. But the fledgling homeschooling movement is growing, and faith is still alive here and there.

They used to say, "The idle brain is the devil's playground." Over 50% of young people 16-22 years of age are goofing off during the summer months. So how is that going to do anything for training the next generation to be ready to take up the slack left by the population pyramid developing (with the retiring babyboomers)? The Child Labor Laws have done immeasurable damage to the work ethic of a nation, not to mention the character of young men across this nation. Kevin Swanson and Dave Buehner talk about ways to teach your children to work.
