Proverbs also gives us wisdom and instruction for discipline in the family. Dr. Kroll outlines it as seven affirmations: Discipline must never be done except in love; it works if it teaches appropriate lessons and reflects a belief in man's sinfulness and God's grace; it teaches as much about the one disciplining as it does about the one being disciplined; it involves more than physical action but correction and rebuke too; it is a time for fairness but not negotiation; discipline establishes parameter; it brings peace and demonstrates hope; and finally discipline invests in the future.
