As part of the Wycliffe Bible Translators family of organizations, JAARS desires to see the Bible translated for every people group that still needs God’s Word in its own language. JAARS supports Wycliffe and related organizations worldwide by providing air, land and water transportation; information technology services; Scripture-focused media tools; and other vital resources such as construction, maintenance and logistical support.
These international services are coordinated at the JAARS Center in Waxhaw, North Carolina. The center also provides training, conference facilities and office space for Wycliffe and other partners in Bible translation.
JAARS receives financial and prayer support from individuals, churches and other organizations. JAARS partners with Wycliffe, which actively seeks to engage the worldwide Church in Bible translation. JAARS also partners with SIL International, a faith-based organization that studies, documents and assists in developing the world's lesser-known languages.
50 Stories from the Pen of a Jungle Pilot
by Bob Griffin

Bob Griffin and his identical twin began flight training in 1941 while still in high school. They often parked their Piper J-3 Cub trainer behind the barn on the family farm near Pullman, Washington.
Bob ferried the first JAARS Helio Courier to Ecuador in 1956 where he initiated the aviation program supporting Bible translators. He has logged nearly 7,000 hours as a missionary aviator.
As editor of the award-winning publication Beyond (now Rev7), Bob wrote many compelling "Cleared for Takeoff" columns, some of which were published in 1998. Now enjoy this revised, updated 50th anniversary edition of Bob's true adventures of life on the mission field.
"Bob Griffin's book is a real gem. The aviation themes are just the right combination to unlock my sometimes padlocked soul. His stories have the power to influence and change people's lives."—Leo Benetti-Longhini, Engineer and Aviation Record Holder.
