Your Origins Matter - Interview: Dr. Jason Lisle

July 4, 2012
College students are more likely to think of themselves as evolved out of cosmic slime with no transcendent purpose for life (than the rest of the population). The more educated you are, the more more likely your worldview will be framed by evolution and materialism. That's why the Institute for Creation Research is engaging the conversation on-line with thoughtful students on these ultimate questions. Kevin Swanson interviews Dr. Jason Lisle on why "Your Origins Matter."

The Supreme Court of the United States refusing to submit itself to God's law? That does happen at an increasingly frequent rate these days. But then again, why does the National Association of Evangelicals associate itself with the National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy with its safe-sex for unmarried teens programs and all the rest?

We have reached a crisis in the Greek synthesis in the west. The old humanist universities and religious institutions in the west are rotting out. These old universities will never attain the level of degradation the Greeks and Romans achieved. Classical education will never be able to bring it back to the gymnasiums. The Catholic church will never be able to legitimize pederasty. Kevin Swanson provides the history of Christianity vs. the old Greek and Roman treatment of homosexuality in this edition of Generations. Sadly, some evangelicals cannot comprehend the extent of the disintegration of the west. They can't seem to bring themselves to use the "R" word - Repentance. According to recent news reports, ministries like Exodus International and Focus on the Family are upset with the Family Research Council for giving an award to a pastor who used harsh words for homosexuality.

The Supreme Court of the United States has issued its ruling on Obama's Socialist Medicine Bill. Some rulings are more important than others. Some rulings will seal the fate of the nation. This ruling really does constitute one giant step towards total government in America. But there is one window of opportunity left for freedom. There is one small exemption left for families who want to be free, and do not want to be euthanized or support government-endorsed euthanasia in the year 2020. Kevin Swanson interviews James Lansberry from the Samaritan Christian Medical Sharing Ministry (exempted in the Senate version of the bill in question). The Amish exempted themselves from Social Security in the Medicare Bill of 1965. "Tucked into the 138 page bill was a clause exempting the Old Order Amish, and any other religious sect who conscientiously objected to insurance, from paying Social Security payments, providing that sect had been in existence since December 31, 1950. Well, tucked into Obama's bill was one more exemption, and Christians are using this one!

Kevin Swanson reports from Colorado on the devastating wildfires burning down the eastern slope in Colorado Springs and Fort Collins. Thus far, at least 300 homes are burned to the ground, and the fire is only 5% contained. You would think that these disasters would inspire a little fear of God in the heart of the governor. But we're not catching this in the news reports. How vulnerable are these towns to a guy with a Bic and 5 cans of gasoline in the back of his pickup truck? Never have our cities been more vulnerable to fires, terrorists, WMD's, and EMP's! The old Proverb still bears some weight - "When a man's ways please the Lord, he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him."

If the homeschooling movement has yielded any blessing for millions of families in America and other nations around the world, it would be appropriate to keep the memory of one man in the forefront. Nobody contributed more to the movement than Christopher J. Klicka. Nobody provided more encouragement. Nobody fought more passionately for freedom for families. Nobody touched the lives of as many people in conferences, than Chris Klicka. What some may have forgotten is that Chris had Multiple Sclerosis for the majority of the years he worked for the cause of Christ and Home Education. Kevin Swanson issues this tribute for Christopher Klicka, and interviews Tracy Klicka on her memories of her husband through the years of suffering, struggles, faith, and triumph. This special edition of Generations features Chris Klicka's last memoirs in a newly published book, "Power Perfected in Weakness."

Faith and family and fatherhood are dying simultaneously, generation by painful generation. There are connections in the fading away of 1000 years of western Christianity. 50% of Americans call themselves "Christians", down from 70% in 1970, and the millennial generation are leaving the faith in droves. Kevin Swanson interviews Dr. Albert Mohler from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary on the “End of Christian America.” How will we possibly salvage the faith in the west? His answer may surprise you.

The scourge of Islam is spreading fast over Africa, Europe, and America. What will fill the void of a dying Christian faith in Europe, Canada, and America? what will Canada and Europe look like in 50-100 years from now, assuming Christianity fails there? Will we salvage the Christian faith in America? Christians may have to escape Egypt with the rising Muslim dominance there. Peter Hammond, one of the world's foremost experts on Islam has first hand experience with it (having worked in Muslim-dominated nations in Africa over a lifetime). He shares his expertise on this edition of Generations.

Abortion is up. Ritalin-usage is up. Euthanasia is coming on like a storm. But the good news: violent crime rates are down. Here Kevin Swanson explains why violent crime rates are down. The boys are too busy playing Grand Theft Auto in their basements! With the massive rise in euthanasia in England and soon America as well, how will families respond? The institutions will always take the short cut. Drug the boys. Kill the elderly. This is not the biblical answer, as it turns out.

Billy Ray Cyrus complains that Disney "ruined my family." But it's not just Billy Ray Cyrus' girl. It's all the girls in America that have followed Brittney Spears, Lindsay Lohan, Hannah Montana, and the rest. Maybe some of Disney's work has been helpful to families, but where is Disney's trajectory? The entertainment-machine handlers are very good at turning little 13 year old girls into fame monsters and existentialist, self-consumed whores. Kevin Swanson steps back and asks whether Cinderella and the Little Mermaid are all that helpful to cultivate the Proverbs 31 and 1 Timothy 2:9-15 vision for womanhood.

Sometimes it's important that we get out into the "real world" wherever there is opportunity to preach the Gospel and "preach it, brother!" In most contexts, Christians are muzzled and discouraged from saying anything substantial about repenting of sin and believing in Christ (as in the public schools and university classrooms). But, street evangelism is still "legal" in certain places, and men like Michael Romero take full adantage of it. Kevin Swanson interviews Michael on this edition of Generations concerning his passion for "getting the gospel out there!"
