Time to March for Racial/Social Justice? - Christians Taking to the Streets

June 18, 2020

Christians are marching for social justice in the streets. Phil Vischer, creator of VeggieTales explains via YouTube why economic disparity exists in America. But, are we supposed to join the marches? Has the time come to call out for redistribution of the wealth, hiring quotas, the banning of hate by the civil magistrate (whatever that is)? The muddle-ment and irrationality in the churches is stifling. The root — an antinomian gospel.

So much of the Christian church got stuck in cliches, minimalism in thinking, and third-tier denominational distinctives (misinterpreted as the essence of the faith). Is there a miscalculation as to what makes for the foundational and fundamental issues in orthodoxy? Here Dr. Jeff Myers from Summit Ministries, addresses his new book “Unquestioned Answers. . . . Rethinking 10 Christian Cliches to rediscover Biblical Truth.” Did cliches and minimalistic thinking displace Christian maturity and a substantive faith?

If the Christian faith will change the world, if we are to be salt and light, then how does this work? Most of Christianity in the West has given up on changing anything, or they have given up on God’s law as the standard. But then, how does our eschatological perspective play into all of this? Are we supposed to set out to change the world. . .or not? These are discouraging times for lots of Christians, but does that mean we must throw in the towel on the salt and light business?

The World Bank calls it the worst worldwide decline in national per capita output since 1870. But the 1929 depression was the best of times, and these are the best of times. How do the great depressions constitute the mercy of God upon this nation? You need to hear this.

Despite all the riots, the “police violence,” actually violent crime has dropped substantially since 1990. That may be because police and prison funding is triple what it was back then, numbers adjusted for inflation. Does this mean we should “defund the police?” We recommended defunding the universities and the mob instead.

While millions of Americans are rioting in the streets, the churches are still afraid to meet. 80% of churches are still closed, and Christians are huddled in their houses, as the police ignore hundreds of thousands of protesters. What does civil disobedience look like for Christians when governments forbid the assembling of themselves together? Will the church assembly be seen as a value to Christians, even if the governor of California refuses to praise them for doing that which is good?

On the 400th anniversary of this nation’s founding, we go over the heritage of those who laid the foundations in New England. Could this heritage be of value to our families and communities today? Was the vision of John Winthrop over-stated? Was the City on the Hill a flop? What were the achilles heals of the first movement of Christians into America? Kevin Swanson interviews Nate Picowitz, the author of an excellent new book, “The American Puritans.”

The attack on homeschooling continues with another article in Harvard’s Crimson Mag. Christians are accused of “group think” and “social isolation.” But which group think are we talking about? World group think or Christ group think? We encourage at the least, that all sides be epistemologically self-conscious of their think — their worldview foundations. To what extent might we isolate our children, and to what extent do we engage the culture? Important questions to consider for every Christian family, on this edition of the program.

This has been another big year for Disney’s Outing. Technically, Disney has been out of the closet since 1991, but Christians continue to enthusiastically participate in the March of the Pied Pipers. Will parents be okay with Disney introducing bestiality? Time will tell. The bewitching, the enchantment, the spell cast by this medium is powerful. . . really powerful.

Here is a clarion call to open all churches of true faith, NOW. Despair deaths are twice the incidence of COVID-19 deaths in America, and churches remain closed while hospitals are open. What’s with that? Kevin Swanson compares the present scenario to other pandemics in history, and finds this to be 1/1000th of the pandemics faced by Londoners in 1667, and New Englanders in the 1700s. The time has come to obey God rather than man.

The riots across America following the alleged, murderous act taken against a man who had not been convicted of a crime — has resulted in more mayhem and destruction since the Rodney King riots of the 1990s. The constant cry is for “justice.” But what is justice? That’s the million dollar question, and there is only one way to answer it — the objective Law of God. Tyranny plays off on anarchy to produce more unrest and unhappiness across the land — until the nation repents. Pray for this!
