The Powerful Story of a 20th Century Martyr - Some Gave All

August 7, 2019

No generation is without stories of true heroes of the faith. In our generation, one man will retain a place in the annals of Christian history until the end of the world. He joins the ranks of Justin Martyr, Polycarp, Blandina, John Hus, George Wishart, Patrick Hamilton, and the two Margarets. Haik Hovsepian was an Iranian bishop, and martyred for Christ in 1994 even while he was doing all he could to save the life of a friend. The story is best told by his own son, Joseph, on this edition of the program. We pray this moving interview will inspire our listeners to give up all for Christ.

In a somewhat symbolic move in which an R.I.P. sign is placed over the entire western world, the two nations of New Zealand and Northern Ireland finally relent to killing babies. This is the end of the Christian West, since pagan human sacrifice ended in the West. In 1066 AD, the last human sacrifice to Radigast was completed. Iceland ended infanticide in 1000 AD, and Ireland cast out the druids by 600 AD. Now, it is over. And, it all started with Russia, Karl Marx, and the humanist philosophers of the 19th century.

Shall we put a sign up in front of our homes “America - Love it or Leave it”? Why are some nations more corrupt than others? We tackle the subject of patriotism, proud nationalism, and the problem of presidents taking God’s name in vain. America is the proudest nation in the world, but how will that do when facing God’s judgment?

Oregon state has mandated teaching the homosexual religion in geography, civics, history, and economics. This word becomes a “frontlet,” similar to the Deuteronomy 6:7 mandate for the Christian form of education. Why then, would Christian parents still send their children to schools that integrate humanist ideology so tightly into every subject? We discuss how to speak to parents whose children are still in these schools.

There’s good news in American and British Christianity. There is a solid, committed remnant that has been hanging in there over the last 35 years. The percentage of folks believing in Young Earth Creation hasn’t changed much at all since 1983. It’s the lukewarm pew warmers that get spewed. Over the years, we come to realize it’s those who rush to compromise, it’s the seeker-sensitive crowd, it’s the squishy elements that fade away pretty fast.

There is no mass of internal contradictions and incoherencies to be found anywhere like what you get in the ramblings of modern atheists. There are almost as many atheists in Britain as there are Christians. We do our best to list the internal contradictions and tensions in the atheist worldview, quoting from George Carlin, Robin Williams, Richard Dawkins, and other leading atheists of the day.

While the Christian woman rejects the proud, independent, feminist vision for womanhood, the alternative is not a flaccid, weak, and faithless wife and mother. Mary Kassian, author of a new book, “The Right Kind of Strong” paints a picture with careful biblical balance here.

This time the economy is facing — not the housing bubble — but what is called “the everything bubble.” Is a worldwide depression in the making, now that America has ratcheted up its overall Debt to GDP by 20% since the last recession? It’s time somebody told the truth. The debtor is servant to the lender, and our present government is making America the tail again. The federal deficit is 54% higher than it was when President Obama handed the reins over to the Republican. How does the Christian gear up for the next big depression?

Atlantic Magazine recently published an article titled “Where Have all the Children Gone?” Cities in America are shrinking, because of the quickly plummeting birth rates. Nowadays, people see cities as a place where the young and childless can go to have fun and live for their own pleasures. What should a Christian's view be in a world of selfishness, where people are swapping capital for kids? Kevin Swanson addresses this topic on this edition of the Generation radio program.

His books sold a million copies in the 1990s—it was the best selling Christian book in the homeschooling movement. . . on courtship. Now, Josh Harris made a public announcement he’s leaving his wife, and he’s toying with leaving the faith. That’s the substance of a recent interview conducted with him by Sojourner Magazine. The zeitgeist has taught the millennial the lesson of doubt. How do Christian families react to the steady flow of apostasies and weakening in the churches? What are the lessons to be learned? Maybe we shouldn’t have bought the book in the 1990s.

In 2018, a Christian man, Philip Zodhiates was sentenced to three years in prison for helping a born-again Christian woman escape her same-sex partner who was trying to take her child away from her.
