As more of medical care, education, and welfare is turned over to the government, increasingly bureaucracies will confiscate children and control medical decisions over the American family. Freedom disappears as people begin taking the government welfare provided by the state (whether that be schooling, Obamacare or welfare). How to avoid medical kidnapping, much like what has happened to Drake Pardo and others.

Churches seem to be filling up with licentious media, pastors recommend Harry Potter movies, and love for whatever the world advocates seems constant.  What does one do?  Must we become the Values Police checking everybody’s internet history, reading fare, and A/V diet? Kevin Swanson recommends asking the more fundamental questions. There are usually more fundamental issues at stake, which will either draw us together in Christ or prove some to be not of us. 

Reuters calls the 2010s the DECADE OF DEBT. American corporations have become the paradigm of greed, dishonesty, unprecedented debt, and the quick buck. All caution was thrown out the window ten years ago. While the federal government was running trillion dollar deficits, corporate America was running up annual trillion dollar deficits too. But, they weren’t spending it on equipment and development. They were spending it on fake dividends and buying their own stock — 60% of the deficits! At the same time the S&P Price to Earnings ratio was bumping into the mid-20s. Not Good. Not Good. Not Good. But, what are the real heart problems with America? What will greed, debt, and the get-rich-quick schemes do to a country, to the largest economies in the world. . .to China. . . to Japan. . . to the whole world?

It was an extraordinary decade in the history of mankind. And, the verse that exactly fit. . . The left is more interested in imposing salvation by the state with ineffectual crusades and do-gooder agendas. Their imposed salvations become more tyranny, more taxation, and more frustration and futility for all. They miscalculate badly concerning the nature of man and the purpose of civil government. We point to the guy who was sentenced 15 years for blaspheming the god of homosexuality, and burning an $8.00 flag. Of course, it’s taxpayers who will carry the bill of $450,000 for room and board for this guy. The taxpayers have pretty much earned it. They elect their leaders. But, the root of it all — a really bad worldview.

Twenty years ago, Christianity Today Magazine had claimed that President Clinton was “morally unable” to lead the nation. Now, the same magazine claims consistency in recommending the removal of President Trump on moral grounds. Are 82% of evangelicals being hypocritical with their approval of Donald Trump over Bill Clinton? Evangelicalism is splitting down the center, and this provides an interesting manifestation of the divide. We carefully analyze the grounds of Christianity Today’s argument on this edition of the program. In the scheme of things, is there all that much difference between President Trump and President Clinton? More fundamentally — is there much of a commitment to God’s law on personal and institutional levels among evangelicals? Where will true reformation come to a nation? Will it happen in Washington DC, or in the grass roots of a nation?

While there has been some interest in the German Reformation of 1517, there has not been much said of the Swiss Reformation, which got its start in 1519. It was the Swiss Reformation that had the most influence on France, Scotland, England, and America — more so than the German. One simple practice marked this great reformation. Could something similar happen in churches today?
