Bible Burning in North Carolina

October 22, 2009
The NASB, the NIV, and the ESV
Bounds of Ecumenicity

A church in North Carolina advertises a Bible Burning of all the "wrong versions," and then people start tossing John MacArthur, Chuck Swindoll, and Billy Graham books in the bonfire, too.
Understandably, some churches are a little gun shy with ecumenism, in the midst of the cold storm of a Christian apostasy in the west. But Kevin Swanson points out that Christians have always struggled over the major-minor, gnat-camel thing. Then he lists some of the major questions you want to ask when choosing the sort of books you read and the Christian teachers you hang out with.

Why the Devil Targets the Eldest Adam, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, and David had major problems with their eldest sons. And this pattern continues into the present day. With 80% of children raised in Christian homes leaving the faith, the devil is well versed in his strategies. Go after the eldest son first. So a couple of dads in studios who happen to be working with eldest sons right now, talk about the challenges, the struggles, and the blessings in the process of grappling for the hearts of their sons.

The Way They Think Unfortunately, many Christians think like Humanists, and they don't even know they do this. Kevin Swanson refers to basic philosophy textbook definitions of humanism, and points out that many if not most Christians actually believe these propositions! Yet, hardly any Christian churches would want to call themselves the First Humanist Community Church of Somewhereville, America. Are you a humanist, or a Christian? That's a pretty important question, because now we're talking basic religious commitments on the Generations broadcast.

This Brave New World Arnie signs a couple of homosexual bills in California. Meantime homosexuals hire surrogate wombs in India to carry "their children." Out in North Carolina, registered sex offenders are prohibited from attending church. So what does the Bible say about things like sperm donations, surrogacy, and sex crimes? Kevin Swanson addresses the role of the civil magistrate and the church in a society that is unraveling faster than ever before.

Born at Four Years Old Does life begin at conception, at 9 months, or at 4 years of age? Kevin Swanson interviews Maria Lancaster, a mother who carried an embryo adoption to term after the child had been in deep freeze for a full 48 months. The law still treats these embryo adoptions as the "exchange of property," but these adoptive parents should love and respect the beautiful life God has created. And on that note, Colorado pro-lifers are going after the Personhood Amendment one more time, as are at least 30 other states. Kevin Swanson interviews Leslie Hanks from Colorado Right to Life on this important battle.

Population Implosions There are less children in the world now than there were in the year 2000, and now 90 nations around the world are seeing their populations imploding. The demographic bomb is about to implode, and economists predict an unprecedented worldwide economic collapse. But we're in a good mood out here on the eastern plains of Colorado. You see, we've abandoned the worldview that dominates western societies – and we're planting gardens in the ashes of a burned out existentialistic, humanist world.

Displaying the Playboy Symbol Kevin Swanson talks culture on this program, and encourages fathers and mothers not to be naive in the war of worldviews that is committed to consuming their children. Symbols mean things, because they are incarnations of the ideologies that are rampant in the culture. Yet, most Christian parents think the incarnations are harmless, and the ideologies too complex to think about. And that is how their children are consumed in larger proportions with each generation.

Independence Day! Christians and pagans alike seem to want their children to be "independent," at least if you read all the How-to-Raise-Kids websites out there. Kevin Swanson doesn't really understand what this word "independent" means. As in, independent of what? With the largest socialist voting block in America now as single, independent women, who of course are dependent on the social structure of the state, Kevin Swanson isn't really cottoning to that worldview. Do we want our children independent of the covenant structures of church and family? Do we want them independent of the state schools and state social security programs? Do we want them independent of God and His Spirit? With this eye-opening program, you will see radical differences between the way that the secular socialists raise their sons and daughters and the way people who would follow the Bible would do it.

Children: 25; Adopted: 22 After much searching, we finally found what we believe to be the happiest family in America. They're not wealthy. They have learned to love the unlovable, and adopt the unwanted, and they've done it a bunch of times! On this radio broadcast, Kevin Swanson interviews the amazing Ritter family, who have adopted 22 beautiful children. Tom and Debra went ahead and adopted children who came with all the labels and some true-blue disorders, such as ADHD, ADD, Bi-Polar, Mentally Retarded, Learning Diasbled, Attachment Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Anger Disorder, Congenital Heart Disease, Severe Scoliosis, Sturge-Weber Syndrome, Ovarian Cancer, Epilepsy, Deafness, and Diabetes. You will find tremendous encouragement in this heart-warming interview, along with some sage-like wisdom for raising some challenging children to be men and women who fear God and walk in His ways.

When Good Prevail While faith, family, and freedoms fell apart in the last half century, important progress was made in only a few areas. But these are significant, because these are the gardens that remain in the ashes of our burned our humanist empires. Kevin Swanson renders tribute to Chris Klicka and his work with Home School Legal Defense Association on this edition of Generations. Now under hospice care in Colorado Springs, Chris fought for home school freedoms not just in America, but all over the year through the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s. Afflicted with Multiple Sclerosis for much of that time, he proved once again that God's modus operandi is not the same as man’s. His strength is made perfect in our weakness.

A Perfect Storm is Brewing Slowly but surely, government is grabbing control of the medical industry in this country. Couple that with 80 million baby boomers retiring soon, who killed 50 million of their own babies, along with the most pro-infanticide president ever to run for the top office in this country, and what do you get? Can you spell Government-sponsored Euthanasia? David Kupelian from World Net Daily joins us to discuss Obamacare and what happens when government funds and regulates all medical care in this country. How much rationing might a government do for an elderly person who has nobody to care for them but government-funded bureaucrats who would rather not spend 30X the money on a old person about to kick the bucket over a young, productive worker in his 30s and 40s? The temptations to euthanasia will be overwhelming, and of course irresistible.
