Where do you start on this one? Concordia Portland is closing its doors. The administration was more progressive (“regressive”) than the oversight board. The student body was more progressive (“regressive”) than the administration, and the whole thing sort of blew up. Add to this the financial pressures, Title IX funding requirements, the faith retrograde in general, and it’s hard to believe these institutions could ever survive. Once again, we encourage an examination of the foundations of a philosophy built upon human reason. The allowance of a square inch of autonomy, hard-wired into the epistemology of the Christian institution, will be its demise, always.

Manhood is under all-out assault, but nobody is going after womanhood or certain cultural groups with this level of antipathy. What’s the deal? The commitment is to the unraveling of a society, and any remnants of manhood and fatherhood stands in the way of that. But, God is gracious to His people, and there are still islands of redemption left in a dying world. When it comes to masculinity, conservatives and liberals tend to get it wrong. The Bible doesn’t speak to machismo and aggression. The Bible speaks to categories like faith, work, sacrifice, watchfulness, prayer, headship, and responsibility.

Church leader after church leader falls.  Mega-churches rise and rise, and fall and fall.  That pretty much characterizes the last 15 years of Christendom.  Kevin Swanson interviews investigative-reporter, Warren Cole Smith on the rise of the scandals, Chick-Fil-A’s funding of SPLC and other anti-Christian groups, etc.  Is there a role for telling the truth and solid investigative reporting in this age where the breach of integrity is almost a daily event? 

American has become increasingly pro-abortion, especially over the last few years. US abortions now exceed 8 million a year, up from 4 million a year back in the 1990s, largely by the increase of the use of the IUD and Plan B.  Why is America killing so many more babies after the pro-life movement has claimed so much success?  The underlying worldview is one of autonomy and existentialist self-orientation, and it is infecting the churches as well. Kevin Swanson presents a resolution he recommends for churches and denominations across America and the world, relating to abortion and the use of the high-efficiency abortifacients. 

These websites get 100 billion visits in a year! This assault is crippling men everywhere. It has corroded out entire civilizations. It has destroyed sexuality and family. The major Bad Websites / Bad Web Portals are about to edge out both Twitter and Instagram on web activity. Absorption into these bad outlets is doubling every 4-5 years. These websites are guilty of the most grotesque sexual crimes. We discuss the right response on the part of the civil magistrate on these criminal website operators. Then, we point out the only solution to this horrible problem — the One who treads out the winepress of the wrath of Almighty God, the Savior of the World.

Switzerland is about to initiate persecution against Christians for the first time in history. Switzerland was a safe place for Christians during the reformation. Many fled to Geneva for protection from the tyrants of France and England, but no longer. Christians who hate sin, and speak against it, are up for 3 years in prison, and the same goes for almost all of Europe now except for the UK and Italy. Prosecuting emotions and emotional speech is risky business, and tyrants will go for it. But, the worst thing of all is the devolution of language itself, and the use of amorphous language to prosecute. . . well, just about everybody. We remember the Gulag Archipelago, and make another clarion call for freedom on this edition of the program.

The Grammys this year was a bust. Pop music is over. The popularity of star-albums has dropped off by 99% since the days of Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston. Now, it's over for the Oscars too. Interest in the stars has dropped off 80-90% over the last ten years. The “best film” went to a South Korean-produced nihilistic film called “Parasite” — a fitting end to an old, tired, and decrepit Hollywood. The towers come down in the City of Man, but not so the kingdom of God.

Some stories of redemption present a sharper picture, especially when we come upon the stories of torture and abuse. This story is especially powerful, as God’s redemption comes to a man who faced serious abuse as a little boy between his second and thirteenth year. Franklin Graham and others are getting barred from using public facilities in the UK. The persecution against real Christians is heating up pretty good — not quite where it was in 1665, however. The true Gospel has always faced push back. Wherever Paul showed up, riots and revivals tended to happen. That’s what goes when we’ve got a message that is turning the world upside down.
