John in 21: Chapter 15
"When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples. This brings great glory to my Father." John 15:8
Read today's passage: John 15:1-27
Two weeks down in reading through the Book of John, and only one to go! We pray you choose to make daily Bible reading a habit for life! We don't say this just to sound "religious," or because we think 15 minutes in the Bible every day is some secret to spiritual blessing. It's because we believe what Jesus says in today's chapter of John.
"'Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing'" (John 15:5). And later He says, "'I have told you these things so that you will be filled with my joy. Yes, your joy will overflow!'" (v. 11).
Walking with Jesus, living the way He lives and loving the way He loves is impossible without the Bible. Though Jesus is now in heaven with the Father, do you remember how He promised to help us until His return? The Holy Spirit, as we learned yesterday, will "'remind you of everything I have told you'" (John 14:26). The Holy Spirit is accomplishing this mission every day by speaking to you through the Bible.
A life without Jesus is a life without joy and one full of spiritual frustration. That's why we need the Bible, not just for 21 days, but for a lifetime! Each day allow the Holy Spirit to remind you of God's love and Jesus' life. And then take those lessons into the world, and let others see.
Do I believe that God has summoned me by name, and that He will be with me when I feel spiritually lost?
There are many of God's great works we could ponder, but for today let's consider one aspect of God's great creation--the stars.
Everyone has a "pole of fear." The words "fear" and "afraid" are found 483 times in the Bible! But the remedy to fear is found in today's passage.
The path will not always be smooth. But God is there and with Him by our side, gladness replaces gloom.
While you may not be called to die for Christ, each one of us is called to live for Him.
