“So speak and so act as those who are to be judged by the law of liberty. For judgment will be merciless to one who has shown no mercy; mercy triumphs over judgment.” (James 2:12-13) Tim from Canada called in to our radio broadcast to ask about this challenging passage from James 2, especially the phrase “judgment will be merciless.” In this short video clip, I give some context to this difficult passage and talk about what it means to be a believer living under the “law of liberty.”

Is there a second blessing? Is it possible that some of us are saved but we still need to “get the Holy Spirit”? Gary from Florida called in to our radio program to ask this question. In this short video clip from the program, I address Gary’s concern about whether or not believers really have “everything we need for life and godliness.”

Oro from Toronto called in to our radio program to ask for my thoughts on the following statement made by his friend: “When we obey God, He is delighted. When we disobey God, He is disappointed.” Is God disappointed in us when we sin? Does He have expectations that He holds over us? Oro’s questions brought on a very interesting discussion that I think will be helpful as you consider God’s attitude toward you in good times and in bad.

Jack called in to our radio program to ask about depression and the believer. In response to Jack’s question, I reference Lamentations and Psalms and discuss potential roots of depression. I also discuss that deeper place within us – deeper than our brain or body – from which we can be counseled and comforted by Christ himself. I hope this is a real encouragement to you today if you suffer from bouts of depression. And if you know someone who might benefit from this, consider passing it along to them as well.

Through the new covenant, God has written His desires on our hearts. But what exactly is written within us? Many Christians seem to think that the Old Testament Law is written on our hearts. Jamal from South Florida called in to our radio program to ask what laws are etched on the lining of our new hearts. In this short radio clip, I address Jamal’s question and clarify what it means to have a new covenant heart with God’s desires stamped on it.
