The Truth About Losing Your Salvation

April 16, 2019

Hebrews 6 and Hebrews 10 present us with two challenging passages which many use to say that we can lose our salvation.

But can we exhaust the blood of Jesus? Can we out-sin the grace of God? Does the Holy Spirit ever get insulted and then cast us away?

In this message, I address these two challenging passages and share the truth about losing your salvation.

You make some pretty strong claims by saying that Law curses people and does nothing but condemn them. Where can I find that type of language about the Law in the Bible? You say Jesus fulfilled the Law – past tense. So now we don’t have to fulfill any of it? It’s already been totally fulfilled for us? These questions and more are addressed in the seventh message in Andrew’s series titled “Is That Really In the Bible?”

You say that even the Lord’s Prayer is a prayer that condemns every one of us. And you say that now, on this side of the cross, things are different from the way Jesus prayed. Where do we see this contrast in Scripture? You claim that being under the Law actually arouses more sin in a person’s life. Where does that idea come from? These questions and more are addressed in the sixth message in Andrew’s series titled “Is That Really In the Bible?”

According to your view, the Law’s only purpose is to expose our sin and our need for Christ. What verses can you give me that back that up? What makes you say the Law is an “all or nothing” proposition? What makes you conclude that Jesus’s teachings are impossible to live by? These questions and more are addressed in the fifth message in Andrew’s series titled “Is That Really In the Bible?”

Where do you see redemption and forgiveness being spoken of as being simultaneously experienced? You say that reconciliation is a finished work. Where do you get that from? Where in the Bible do you get the idea that sin is a parasite? These questions and more are addressed in the fourth message in Andrew’s series titled “Is That Really In the Bible?

Where do you find see this absolute “once for all” forgiveness talked about in the Bible? Where in the Bible can I read about Jesus sitting down? What Scripture supports the idea that Christians won’t be judged for their sins? These questions and more are addressed in the third message in Andrew’s series titled “Is That Really In the Bible?”

Shouldn’t Christians still consult the Old Covenant as a benchmark for how we’re living? Doesn’t it still have a use for Christians? Just because Jesus is our high priest now, does that really mean that the Old Covenant has been entirely swapped for a superior one? You believe in once-saved-always-saved, right? And you say our behavior is not even in the equation of maintaining our salvation. Where does it say that it’s all because of Him? These questions and more are addressed in the second message in Andrew’s series titled “Is That Really In the Bible?”
April 10, 2019
What evidence is there that the New Covenant began at Jesus’s birth? Where can I find a good summary of the New Covenant in Scripture? What would lead you to say that the Old Covenant is totally set aside? These questions and more are addressed in the first message in Andrew’s series titled “Is That Really In the Bible?”
