Resting in Christ

April 25, 2018

esus invites us to a spiritual life that He described as “easy and light”, and then He said that we would find “rest for our souls.” And Hebrews tells us that there is a rest for the people of God that will enable us to rest from our works.

This rest has got to be real.

So how can the Christian life really be restful? What does resting in Christ even mean?

These were the questions that one caller asked when he phoned in to our radio program.

In this short clip, I discuss the meaning of “resting in Christ” and how we can very easily start resting today.

Enjoy!

Jesus said the opposite of abiding is being “apart” from Him. He also said anyone who does not abide in Him is like a branch that is gathered and burned. Finally, the apostle John writes that anyone who confesses that Jesus is the Son of God abides in Him. It sounds like abiding is a pretty black-and-white thing. Still, so many have turned abiding into a work or a walk. But is abiding a moment by moment decision we must make? Or is it something that we already do? In this short video clip, I address these questions and share the truth about abiding.

In the book of Acts, we read that Ananias and Sapphira lied about money. Then, hours later, they were both dead. Were they believers? Did God kill them? Might He kill us if we have ever lied? How do we understand the events surrounding Ananias and Sapphira from a grace perspective? Paulie from Oregon called in to our radio ministry to ask these questions. In this short video clip, I address Paulie's concerns and this very controversial passage.
