Question #1: How many marriages break up every year because a spouse had unrealistic expectations of his or her partner? Answer: a lot. Question #2: How many children are bitter towards their parents because their parents expected too much of them growing up? Answer: a lot. Question #3: How many Christians have fallen into deep despair because God has not lived up to their faulty expectations? Answer: too many. Conclusion: expectations aren’t always great.
