Gripped by the Sovereignty of God - Part 2
Monday, August 23, 2010
Sovereignty is all about being God. In our need for control, we want a God that’s manageable. We reduce Him to some heavenly pal or celestial bellboy. We want to use the Lord like a rabbit’s foot. Just whip Him out for a little rub every time we have a problem. In some twisted way, we think we’re more secure when we’ve got God figured out. Sovereignty says, “no way!” There’s no way you’re going to figure out God. He’s more than we might dare to imagine. Here’s another hard fact—when it comes to how He directs the people and events of history, God doesn’t need our permission. Hate to tell you, but He’s not going to bend down and explain why He’s doing everything He chooses to do. With both the macro and the microscopic world under His constant control, God is able to do whatever He pleases whenever He wishes.

Featured Offer from Walk in the Word

God at Work Booklet and DVD

God never punches out.

He never takes vacation.

He’s always at work...on you.

We live in a world where seeing is believing. But that’s not the world we read about in the Bible. In God at Work, you’ll see how God works through faith, not sight. Get to know Jacob, an unnamed widow, Ruth, and Esther and gain insights from their experiences. You’ll see He works in the same way today — in the DVD of recent God at Work stories. And in you.

Request your God at Work booklet and DVD when you send a ministry gift of any amount today.

About Dr. James MacDonald

James MacDonald is married to his high school sweetheart, Kathy, from Ontario, Canada. And he is the father of three grown children, a daughter-in-law, a son-in-law, and four amazing grandsons. James’ ministry focuses on the unapologetic proclamation of God’s Word. In 1988, along with a small group of ministry partners, James and Kathy planted Harvest Bible Chapel which has grown to over 13,000 people each weekend, meeting in six locations.

In 1997, a Bible teaching broadcast ministry called Walk in the Word was established, now reaching more than three million people weekly. In 2002, a church-planting ministry called Harvest Bible Fellowship was born and has given birth to more than 70 churches across North America and around the world. James’ vision is that God will use him to help plant 1,000 churches in the next 20 years.

James’ extensive ministry also includes a training center for pastors, a year-round camp, a biblical counseling center, and a Christian school—all used to reach more people with the life-changing message of the Gospel.

Now impacting millions of lives annually, God’s favor upon these ministries has been what James describes as “abundantly baffling.” The MacDonalds view these blessings as proof only that God still works through broken vessels to pour out His grace.
