Restore the Family in 21st Century

January 7, 2009
Shepherds
Dr. James Dobson counts the greatest tragedy of the 20th century as the destruction of the family in the west. But what would it take to repair the family? Homeschooling? Single moms? Barrack Obama? Focus on the Family or the American Family Association? Not even close. Kevin Swanson interviews Ken Carpenter, father of 9 and president of Franklin Springs Media on the restoration of the family in the 21st century - and the single most important thing that must happen if the nuclear family will survive.

Education 101 Kevin Swanson gives three reasons why the world is far more socialistic in 2009 than it was in 1960, primary of which is the education system. We are educated TO BE socialists. He then interviews Penn Pfiffner of the Independence Institute on how to educate young men and women in the principles of freedom, especially if they have already been indoctrinated in socialism.

Complaints about Generations Some are concerned that the Generations broadcast is too optimistic and yet others think that the program is too pessimistic! So do we just file this under the Can't-Keep-Everybody-Happy-All-The-Time file? Kevin Swanson and Dave Buehner interact with the input from either side, suggesting that maybe we aren't optimistic enough about the kingdom of God, and maybe we aren't pessimistic enough about the empires of men. Concerted time is spent considering the phrase, "Things have never been this bad." A comparison is drawn between 2009 America and 1789 France. You'll find some helpful historical perspective on this issue of Generations.

Are Your Raising Your Daughter for this Vision? Dr. Elizabeth Warren from Harvard Law School points out that in 1970, a woman with a 16 year old child was less likely to be in the work force than a mother of a 6 month old today. Yet, families are far more strapped for cash, consumed with far more debt, in higher risk of financial ruin, and under far more stress than they were in 1970. Yet they are paying less for groceries and clothing, adjusted for inflation. So what gives? Kevin Swanson suggests an even better approach to family finances, than this failing socio-economic system. You do not want to miss the information contained in this insightful program. The implications are many-faceted and life impacting.

The Big Government Juggernaut SWAT teams taking on family farm coops, bureaucrats hassling the Amish, and Brazilians dragged into court for Homeschooling their children. What's this world coming to? It seems that education is the juggernaut, as the younger generation is carefully educated to seek big government regulations for every area of life.

Turning Tummies Towards Home With a little tongue in cheek, the men from Generations get behind the recently emerging, Home Nutrition Movement. But Kevin Swanson takes on both sides of the issue, interviewing first Allen Amode from the National Child Nutrition Advocacy Group, followed up with another interview with Michael Farrell JD, chief litigator for the Center for Home-Based Nutrition. Don't miss the point of the program that comes with a little subtlety and a ton of force at the end!

How to Deal with Depression It's the day after Christmas when all through the house. Everyone's sort of sour, yes, even the mouse. The stockings are tossed on the living room chairs. St. Nick hardly made it, this recession's a bear. The children are screaming loud in their beds. With indigestive pains and hard throbbing heads. A couple of dads in studio talk about the let down of the post-holiday blues, and what to do about it.

Guys in Suits at the Door How is it that cults like the Mormons are winning more evangelicals over to their side, than the other way around? Kevin Swanson suggests that the Mormons might just be producing better politics, better families, better marriages, and better church community than the wider evangelical church. Kevin interviews Pastor Jason Wallace from Salt Lake City on how to have a fruitful discussion with those that take a fundamentally different view of important things like God, justice, sin, and atonement. Does doctrine matter? Does history matter? Or do we all just make it up as we go along?

For God so Loved the World... What would this world look like, if Jesus had never come and His message had never transformed the lives of millions around the globe? Host, Kevin Swanson looks at the worst hell holes on earth and the religions/worldviews that dominate in those places, finding practically no trace of the Christian faith whatsoever. Then, he turns to the most stable, most prosperous, and most free nations on earth, and finds some remnants of the Christian faith. He reviews economies, political liberties, private charitable initiative, the treatment of the infirm, etc., and concludes the power of ideas and love of Christ is truly remarkable, as it transforms lives and cultures. This is a program you do not want to miss!

De-funding Socialist Education Faced with the ever-expanding, inevitable growth of socialism in Western "democracies," since the birth of the public school movement in America, those who still kinda liked freedom have all but given up hope. Yet there may be a faint glimmer of hope in a new political stratagem inspired by one, Paul Dorr from Iowa. He's going for the belly of the socialist beast, and he's making some appreciable progress at it. For six years now, he's taken the lead opposing School Bond Elections all over the country, and he's winning.
