Do you remember being in Algebra class in high school? Do you remember how complex the math formulas seemed? I remember very well how hard it was to figure out the answer; until I figured out the method in which to work the formula. Once I figured out what steps to take in order to get the answer… every problem was simple from then on. Today, we will reflect on the complex yet simplicity of Easter.
God said in His word, “For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumbling block, and unto the Greeks foolishness; But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.
Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nothing things that are: That no flesh should glory in his presence. But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.”
(1 Corinthians 1:18-31
See, Easter or Resurrection Day is complex when we look at what Jesus did; but it is very simple when you realize what your part is. Many people think that it sounds foolish to believe that God Almighty would come down to earth, be born of a woman, take on all of our sins, be crucified on a cross, and rise from the dead on the 3rd day. To the world that sounds like foolishness but to us that believe… it is the power of God. And when you tell people that all they have to do is confess with their mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in their heart that God has raised him from the dead and they will be saved. My friends, you better have some strong self confidence because in their eyes you are as wise as a pencil eraser. However, to God be the glory. For with the heart man believes unto righteousness and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Brothers and sisters! The formula is complex to those who don't know the method but to those who have been called… the answer is simply Jesus Christ. Happy Easter!
