Bridge Down
by Berni Dymet
John 3:17 Indeed, God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
I was talking with an American friend of mine not long after that bridge collapse in Minneapolis.
And he made an interesting point - he said that "So often the TV cameras chase the survivors - but I think it's the rescuers that have the most amazing story.
"Those people who put their lives on the line to save other people - at a moment's notice. Just a split second to decide - and in that split second they decide to risk their own lives to save someone they've never met before."
That's an amazing decision. And almost without exception - these people would never use the word hero.
The way I see it - God had an absolute eternity to think about how He would rescue you and me. He could have chosen anything.
But the way He chose was to send His Son to die for you and me.
Now He had all eternity to think about it - but my hunch is, He made that decision in a split second.
