The Sermon on the Mount begins with eight declarations that those who belong to God, through the sacrifice of Christ, are "blessed." To be blessed means that we are holy and called out of this world. We belong to God as his exclusive property. We must learn to obey the voice of our King when he tells us: "Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well."
