In the passage before us, we see a plot of the leaders to trap Jesus, but the Savior displays His great wisdom and compassion. He reveals justice and mercy.

First, we look at the sin of the leaders. They were using Scriptures for their own purposes but without regard for what was actually taught.

Next we see the wisdom of Jesus. He did not excuse the woman’s sin, but confronted sin while showing mercy for sinners.

Finally, the message to the woman. What gracious words — “not condemned.” We come to Jesus as guilty sinners but He clothes us with His righteousness and commands, “Go and sin no more.”
