"Jesus saith unto them, Come and dine. And none of the disciples durst ask him, Who art thou? knowing that it was the Lord" (John 21:12).
As we look at John 21:1-14, we first observe the disciples' unsuccessful labor. They had gone fishing but caught nothing.
Next we see the results of obedience. Jesus told them to cast their net on the right side of the boat and the net was then filled with fish, in contrast to their own unsuccessful efforts during the night of fishing.
We then see the provision of Jesus. Jesus knew they were hungry and he fed them, displaying the fact that he cared for them and was ready to supply their needs.
Finally we see the welcome of Jesus. What warm, welcoming words: "Come and dine." And today the message is the same. Jesus says "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."
