Tax Breaks or Welfare? - Caesar’s Funds, Caesar’s Controls

September 23, 2020

Should Christians take advantage of welfare programs, or should they use tax breaks, when the system is filled with inequity? How does a Christian get along in a system shot through with stealing, cheating, preferential treatments, etc.? These are not always easily answered questions. Kevin and Bill present the principles, but challenge families to make principled choices in their own varied situations.

Young children are increasingly being sexualized by films like Frozen, Cuties, etc., but what is the real sin of it? Does the Bible really condemn pre-marital sexuality? What is the focal point we present for our daughters, when it comes to presentation?  The world trains women in the Proverbs 5 and Proverbs 7 mode, but our focus is Godward, not man-ward or self-ward.

While Christians were allowing for easy divorce and adultery, and still opposing homosexuality, they were grossly inconsistent and hypocritical.  However, Christian leaders are now moving towards approving both, lending to more consistency in their apostasy.  We go over the biblical language relating to divorce given by our Lord in the Gospels.

The false doctrines of racism and racial justice is dividing the church and Barna’s survey is not helping the situation. But, if the church would hold to the commandments of God, the confusion and disagreements would largely disappear. What does God’s law tell us about big government solutions to problems like ethnic hatred and police brutality? Instead of looking to governments to change the hearts of men, would Christians rely more upon the power of the Gospel?

Ligonier Ministries teamed up with LifeWay Research for the biennial “State of Theology” survey to examine the differences between everyday Americans and Evangelicals on their beliefs about God, truth, the Bible, and ethical issues. They spoke to a representative sample of 3,000 people. Guest host Adam McManus interviews Dr. Stephen Nichols, the President of Reformation Bible College and the Chief Academic Officer for Ligonier Ministries, as they examined statements like: “God accepts the worship of all religions including Christianity, Judaism, and Islam”, “Jesus was a great teacher, but He was not God”, “Everyone sins a little, but most people are good by nature”, “Modern science disproves the Bible”, “Christians should be silent on issues of politics”, and “The Bible is the highest authority for what I believe.”  Respondents indicated whether they strongly agree, somewhat agree, are not sure, somewhat disagree, or strongly disagree.  Look at the key findings and at the 35 statements as a family and examine the Scriptures connected with each.  The results reveal that Evangelicals desperately need to study God’s Word. On September 9 th , Netflix released a disturbing French film entitled “Cuties”. According to its original synopsis, Netflix said, “Amy, 11, became fascinated with a twerking dance crew. Hoping to join them, she starts to explore her femininity, defying her family’s traditions.” CitizenGo rightly reminds concerned citizens that in the last year alone, Netflix glorified blasphemy through “The First Temptation of Christ” and sexual violence through “365 Days.” Now, they’ve reached a new low by sexualizing 11-year-old girls. One Christian leader said, “Every adult involved in the production, marketing, and distribution of this film should be registered as a sex offender.” Guest host Adam McManus interviews Linda Harvey, Founder of MissionAmerica.com, who urges Christians to immediately drop their subscriptions to Netflix. Based on Ephesians 5:11, McManus asks you to urge your state’s Attorney General to prosecute Netflix for obscenity involving minors, to sign the Citizen Go petition to Netflix with 220,000 signatures now, and to protect your own children from exposure to the world’s dangerous messages.

Guest host Adam McManus talks with Patti Garibay, the founder of American Heritage Girls, a Christian version of the Girl Scouts. In this second installment of two conversations, Patti, a Girl Scouts parent volunteer, shares her outrage with the group for making the pledge to God optional, for advocating moral relativism, and for championing a disturbing weekend called “Sexuality & You” for 12 to 14-year- olds which celebrated gender confusion and sexual perversion antithetical to God’s design. She empathized with Habakkuk, the prophet, who cried out, “How long, O Lord, must I call for help? But You do not listen! Must I forever see these evil deeds? Why must I watch all this misery?” (Habakkuk 1:2-3) After trying to reform the Girl Scouts from within, she felt God calling her to found American Heritage Girls, a Christ-centered adventure program for girls (5-18) whose troops are hosted in 1,200 churches and have 56,000 members nationwide. It’s all chronicled in her book Why Curse the Darkness When You Can Light a Candle? If you missed Part 1 of Adam’s interview, in which Patti shares her life story about how God used her wheelchair-bound father and her alcoholic mother, click here.

Guest host Adam McManus talks with Patti Garibay, the founder of American Heritage Girls, a Christian version of the Girl Scouts. In this first installment of two conversations with Patti, she shares her story of having grown up in a home where her father contracted the debilitating disease called Multiple Sclerosis and her mother became a hardened alcoholic. When she began dating her future husband, she became pregnant out of wedlock at 19. Patti shares the dramatic story about her visit to Planned Parenthood. And, ultimately, both Patti and her husband, Pat, trusted Jesus Christ as their Savior. It’s all chronicled in her book Why Curse the Darkness When You Can Light a Candle? Tomorrow, she will share how deeply disturbed she became when the Girl Scouts, where she was a parent volunteer, began to shun God, embrace moral relativism, and advocate a secular worldview related to sexuality in particular.

Last year, America sponsored the largest pride marches in history.  This year, comes record fires, hurricanes, disease, and economic disaster.  The judgments are stacking up, but will there by any sort of responses? This could be the greatest opportunity for the Gospel, in our history — if there is an increase in humility, and a lapse of faith in man to save himself. Will there be any humility, before it’s too late?

Guest host Adam McManus interviews Brandi Swindell, the Founder of the life-affirming Stanton Healthcare clinics in Boise, Idaho, Detroit, Michigan, Pasadena, California and Belfast, Northern Ireland, about her call for the Smithsonian to remove the bust of Margaret Sanger from the National Portrait Gallery. Sanger founded Planned Parenthood with the expressed purpose of killing children of color whom she deemed to be “human weeds” and a “menace to the race”. Her eugenics worldview was conceived by evolutionist Charles Darwin and implemented through Hitler’s “Final Solution.” Sanger’s U.S. “Abortion Solution” has killed 62 million pre-born babies compared to Hitler’s 15 million victims. While Blacks only comprise 13 percent of the U.S. population, they have nearly 40 percent of all abortions. That’s why GOP Congressman Russ Fulcher of Idaho sent a letter to Lonnie Bunch, the Director of the Smithsonian, urging him to remove the Sanger bust. Call Linda St. Thomas at the Smithsonian at (202) 633-5188 and email stthomasl@si.edu and call Alexandria Fairchild at (202) 633-0282 and email fairchilda@si.edu. Or write: Director Lonnie Bunch, Smithsonian, PO Box 37012, Washington, DC 20013. And sign this petition.

Guest host Adam McManus talked about COVID Tyranny over the churches with Daniel Schmid, Senior Litigation Attorney with Liberty Counsel. The Christian legal group filed lawsuits on behalf of churches in Florida, Illinois, Colorado, and California. In Florida, Liberty Counsel defended Pastor Rodney Howard-Browne of the River at Tampa Bay Church who was arrested at his home on March 30th for daring to hold a church service on Sunday, March 29th.  Listen to the outrageous remarks by Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister and the bold remarks of Pastor Howard-Browne following his arrest. In Colorado, Democratic Attorney General Philip Weiser tried to shut down the Andrew Wommack Ministries conference on July 3rd.  Ironically, Democratic Governor Jared Polis permitted thousands to gather in mass protests over the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, but mandated that Christians could not gather in churches. Liberty Counsel Founder Mat Staver said, “There is neither a pandemic pause button to the Constitution nor an exception for religious gatherings.” In Illinois, Democratic Governor J.B. Pritzker’s overreaching executive COVID orders prompted Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot on July 13th to dispatch police officers to shut down the parking lots and tow the cars of Christians attending Sunday services at Elim Romanian Pentecostal Church.  Worse yet, they have been threatening to bulldoze churches which insist on meeting for in-person for services.  After Liberty Counsel went to the Supreme Court asking for an injunction, Gov. Pritzker decided that his 10-person maximum restriction was indefensible. And in California, Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom issued a COVID order, shutting down in-person worship and home Bible studies.  Plus, the City of Pasadena’s Chief Asst. City Prosecutor sent a threatening letter to Harvest Rock Church, stating, “Each day in violation is a separate violation and carries with it punishment up to one year in jail and a fine for each violation. … Your compliance with these Orders is not discretionary, but mandatory. Any violations in the future will subject you … to potential closures of your Church.” If your church needs free representation involving COVID Tyranny, call Liberty Counsel at (407) 875-1776 or request legal help on-line.
