Lies, Statistics, and Ultimate Facts - What is Truth?

May 1, 2020

Pilate asked the question, “What is truth?” While there are lies, very bad lies, and statistics, what we are looking for is ultimate facts. Let’s not get hung up in the weeds, or sweating the small stuff relating to COVID-19, Chinese conspiracies, political wrangling, death rates lower or higher than the flu, etc. There are much more significant issues to consider in relation to God, the judgment of God, and the pride of the nations. What is the ultimate truth we need to keep ever before us right now?

We’ve encouraged families to think out of the box when it comes to education, and now the box is on fire. Per Forbes, 72% of private colleges have very few reserves, and are running the risk of bankruptcy now. But then again, this has been the breeding ground of progressivism for years. College professors are becoming more liberal, more anti-Christian. . . by 50% in the last 25 years. In a recent study, the Democrat to Republican ratio was 12 to 1, and among the younger professors 23 to 1. But what is the biblical view of preparation for life? Worship, Books, and Work/Life Application.

The abortion blight is all over the world today, and billions of people are part of this. Is it time to tell the stories, and to better understand the forgiveness and cleansing that can only come from Jesus Christ? We interview Ruth Coghill, author of the new book: Unborn. Untold.

We do a program on snitching, and the rise of the Orwellian State. It’s one of the byproducts of the totalitarian state. What does the Bible say? Do snitches really get stitches, according to Psalm 52? We draw distinctions between the various complications that arise under conditions of extreme government control. Under what conditions might Christians break the law? Then we contrast the Christian worldview with that of the statist worldview.

It’s hard to weed through all the fake science and the fake news, numerators without denominators, and the insatiable desire to create totalitarian governments. We sort through the fictions for the facts, among which is the real death rate for COVID-19, an estimated 7% drop on the Gross World Product, and most importantly, biblical law. You take away a man’s millstone, you take away his life.

The "prophets" are gone. They are dead now. The world did not listen to them. The last of them died in 2019. They warned of this. Why wouldn’t anybody listen to them? A few of us still remember them. George Orwell. A.A. Hodge. C.S. Lewis. T.S. Elliot. G.K. Chesterton. Aleksandr Isayevich Solzhenitsyn. Francis Schaeffer. Gordon Clark. Herbert Schlossberg. It was a word in season — not inspired prophecy as in Isaiah and Jeremiah. But, why wouldn’t anybody listen? It turns out, they were right. Here we summarize the great wisdom of foregone generations of those who saw it coming, and they warned us.

Harvard Law School is targeting homeschooling; more specifically, they are aggressively going after the last few Christians who do not subscribe to “democratic values” of transgenderism, abortion, totalitarian control of the family, and sexual perversion. Bottom line, there are Christians who don’t subscribe to the predominant civic religion of humanist statism. However, (on the good side), the propaganda piece in the Harvard Magazine is a good example of red herrings, appeal to fear, and other simplistic logical fallacies, for homeschoolers who are studying logic in this year's academic program.

As we grasp for the remnants of rationality in reference to constitutional and biblical standards relating to sphere jurisdiction, right response to disease, quarantining the healthy, essential vs. non-essential services, church congregating, and the rest of it, a few wise perspectives surface. Bottom line - bad worldviews Lead to bad decisions, poor governance, and poor reactions to problems. We draw from constitutional attorney, Mike Farris, Pastor Steve Wilkins, and Pastor Jason Young on this edition of the program.

That unlikely prophet, Don McLean, shows up again. The songwriter and artist behind "Bye Bye Miss American Pie" points out that music no longer exists today. It’s all nihilism. But, why aren’t Christians more awake and aware of this? When will Christians get off the nihilist musical boat, and realize that their relevance is their demise.

The Big Tech giants are cracking down on unapproved sermons now. What is this “reasonable sensitivity towards natural disaster?” We play the most controversial elements of two of the banned sermons on this edition of the program. The call for humility and repentance was just too much to bear for these guys.

The last month has proven a success for socialism, unlike any other time in American history. Will this be the most socialist administration in history? The increase in socialism — a whopping 19% of the GDP, beating out Franklin D. Roosevelt’s 6% by three fold! But would you cash the check? That’s the question we take up, as the king sends the check to the people with his name prominently displayed in the upper left hand corner.
