Fathers Who Still Care about Daughter's Modesty

May 29, 2009
The Problem of Distracted, Disengaged Fathers
If more fathers wanted to protect their daughters' purity and insisted on modesty in heart and dress, would clothing styles be any different than they are today? Would their fifteen year old daughters pose for Vanity Fair magazine, or stand up for their Christian faith in a bikini on national television?
Seldom discussed in Christian media, but highly significant in all of this is the problem of disconnected, disinterested, and distracted fathers. Kevin Swanson interviews James and Stacy McDonald on the subject of modesty, with a special focus on dad's role in protecting the purity and modesty of his daughters.

Christians who Work for the Mafia Should you get a job teaching that the beginning of knowledge is NOT the fear of God? Should you work in sex education classes in a high school, explaining the failure rates of condoms, drawing the distinctions between forms of homosexual activity. . . while you are not permitted to teach it in the fear of God? Should you as a Christian contractor, construct torture cells in Guantanamo for the purpose of torturing Christians, or even Muslims for that matter? What if the government has just confiscated 8 properties from widows in your county, and they want to sell it to you for ten cents on the dollar? Kevin Swanson addresses the tricky questions of being in the world but not of it, in this segment of Generations. Should Christian home educators take money from the government and the concomitant controls? What if the government wants to give you $10,000 for a research project on the procreating behavior of aardvarks during a full moon?

What it Would Take for a Rational Person to Believe in Evolution Although not even considered by evolutionists as any sort of a link between chimpanzee and human, the media and the masses are pretty tickled about Ida, the new "missing link." Challenged by an atheist, Kevin Swanson sets out to identify the sorts of evidence he (or any rational person) should need to believe that a rock turned into an ape by historical macro-evolutionary process. Belief is defined as getting red in the face and hollering demeaning things at people who don’t believe that it happened. Also, you know some people really, really believe in this when they express their macro-evolution theory in a matter-of-fact, dogmatic way in billions of pages of scientific studies, on millions of web pages, in millions of public schools and university class rooms, thousands of national parks and museums, etc. etc.

A Higher Law With the ever-expanding federal tyranny over the states, some state governments (like Montana) are drawing up legislation to exempt themselves from federal regulations. With Walter Williams we wonder if the state governments "will summon the courage to declare some of these federal laws null and void, and refuse to obey enforce them." Kevin Swanson talks to the possibility of secession should the present decisions of our federal government take the nation into bankruptcy. 67% of Protestant Clergy Support Homosexual Rights So what is real reason this nation is backing into tyranny? "Either you'll be governed by God, or by God you'll be governed!" When the faith of a nation unravels in the churches, what can we expect in the courts?

Implicit Trust in the AMA Tissue from aborted babies contributed to the development of vaccines used for rubella, measles, mumps, chickenpox, polio, or hepatitis A and B. How many Christians and pro-life conservatives back into serving as accomplices and participants in the baby-killing businesses? Kevin Swanson points out that there are a few companies producing ethical vaccinations, and discourages implicit trust in today's medical systems. Family Jurisdictions in Medical Decisions A Minnesota family makes a run for the border with the police in hot pursuit. The crime: They would really rather not take the AMA-recommended Chemo treatment for their son. Kevin Swanson applies biblical law in the case and draws jurisdiction boundaries between state and family.

The Urban Homemaker In a day of fragmented families and big-business oriented economies, one family’s vision took them on an amazing journey. The life of faith is not always pretty, but it is also not without its joys and triumphs! When Duane and Marilyn Moll took the trip all the way home in the early 1990s with home schooling and home businesses, they had no idea what would lie ahead of them. Marilyn Moll tells the inspiring story of Urban Homemaker on this edition of Generations. There are many different ways that Christian families are incarnating the biblical model for home life, integrated families, and Proverbs 31 home-managers. But in a world of egalitarianism, socialist-driven economies, family disintegration, and institutionalized, non-discipleship oriented education, it is a huge inspiration to see a few families embracing the biblical vision and trying out a few incarnations of that vision!

Ideas have Consequences Worldviews are important things, and they can be dangerous. If you pick the wrong worldview or if you were to give your children the wrong worldview, you will bring unmitigated evil upon this earth. Worldviews are taught primarily through education, and they will impact the way you think about everything, the way you vote, the way your families will live thirty years from now, and the way you consider science and the environment. Bill Jack from Worldview Academy joins us on this edition of Generations to share concerning the many implications of a worldview.

Bad Guys 2009. . . Good Guys 0 Dr. James Dobson from Focus on the Family concedes a loss in the culture war, but vows to keep on fighting. With fatherlessness, homosexuality, birth implosions, the infatuation with death, socialism, etc. on the exponential increase, what can we expect in the next 40 years? For now, we're losing the culture war, but the entire deck is about to be reshuffled. Christians are losing, but then again, so are the humanists. In an estimated 39 years France will be a Muslim state. In 15 years, Netherlands will be 50% Muslim, and a few years after that, it will be a Muslim state also. Germany is slated to be a Muslim state by 2050. America will face vast changes, as Kevin Swanson enumerates on this edition of Generations. In the ensuing chaos, what will happen to the Christian faith? There are tremendous opportunities opening up for those who are willing to face the reality of our present state.

Creating a Covenant-Keeping Community Part of the dissolution of the nuclear family required a move towards no-fault divorce which came to this country in due course between 1970 and 1983. What do you do when you live in a nation characterized by flakiness? Reverse the no-fault divorce laws? How do you put Humpety back together again? Kevin Swanson recommends establishing covenant-keeping communities. Imagine a church that will not take as members those that are planning to get divorced – churches that will hold families accountable to this commitment, and dis-fellowship covenant breakers. Imagine families training their children to be faithful, loyal, humble, and sacrificial covenant-keepers!

Visiting the Fatherless With 40% of boys now born without fathers, and the fatherless making up some 85% of youth in prison and 75% of youth in drug treatment, how does the body of Christ respond to this cultural catastrophe? Kevin Swanson interviews Scott McNaughton from Fathers in the Field ministry, a wonderful program designed to minister to the fatherless, and build more gardens in the ashes. If you know a fatherless boy, if you are related to a fatherless boy, if a fatherless boy attends your church, you absolutely must listen to this edition of Generations!

Cultivating Strong Leadership Teams You’ve heard of the seven habits of highly effective people. Now we present the seven habits of highly ineffective people, specifically focused on fathers, pastors, and elders in churches. Why are families and churches so weak? Weak leaders. Bad Shepherds. Poor Vision. The inability to distinguish between gnats and camels. Listen to this strikingly practical program if you want to build stronger covenant relationships and build some serious kingdom bulwarks out of your family and church community.
