The story in Acts 4:32-37 (where they had everything in common) should not be misinterpreted, as the socialists and communists do when they say that is a model of Christian society. We need to read the context and understand chapter 5:1-12. Chapter 6:1, which reveals that having all things in common, was not working. The tagging of Christian socialism to a political party and ideologies is misleading and a trap for Christians that lack knowledge in the biblical worldview.

For two thousand years, Jesus’ words and His name have been used and are used for different social ideals, among them Socialism, Marxism, and communism that in no way represent the ideas of the biblical Jesus. As we shall see it was impossible for Jesus to have promoted the ideological perspective of socialism.

Jesus does not expect His people to be politically correct because that will mean they have compromised His Word. Political correctness is nonsense, and furthermore, it destroys the lives of people here on earth and for eternity. By speaking the truth of God’s love, firmness and boldness lets people know there are only two choices available to them and no others. Each one of us has to make that decision: are we for God or against Him. That is the bottom line that will never change or accept any compromise.

God’s new social order with all the benefits requires acceptance and commitment; the good news is that the door is open to the whole human race not just the Jewish nation. Jesus’ preaching and teaching was a call to be active and reject being lukewarm and self-righteous. For approximately three and half years, that would be the foundation of Jesus’ confrontational message, needless to say, He never even considered being politically correct.

The truth of God always offends those who reject it, and this includes the ones who are supposed to be on God’s side. As we can see, the disciples confronted the same pressure Jesus encountered with the religious leaders and most of the people of Israel who only wanted to hear what they considered to be correct. Our times are no different, the PC mentality is being implemented everywhere in society because it doesn’t want to be challenged with the truth of moral absolutes.

As hard as it may seem, the only proper way to define words and actions is revealed in the Scriptures and no other place is the source that can shed perfect knowledge, wisdom, and understanding. Of course, this requires a humble spirit and an open mind to learn. Historically, politically correct concept is not a new one. In our modern times, the comeback of the PC concept happened since the middle of the 20th century when the Marxist-Leninist groups knew they were gaining ground in American culture.

The term political correctness, also known as “PC” basically condemns any form of language and conduct classified as intolerant. This ideology has destroyed most of the learning institutions, communications, and social relationships. It has created many protected groups because their feelings are hurt. The other side of the coin is that this ideology has demolished anything that goes against its socialist agenda, with a particular focus on the Western nations. What is the right course to push back?

About Nena Arias

Nena Arias

Is one of thirteen siblings; born, raised and educated in California. She was brought up in a Christian home, however her personal commitment to Christ happened at the age of seventeen which also included a simultaneous call to missionary work which she embraced with her whole heart. She answered this call and up until the present is actively involved in ministry alongside her husband, Ramon. Nena is an accomplished singer/minister and conference speaker. Her ministry for the last 40 years has taken her to several continents and nations such as, Mexico, Central and South America, Africa, Middle East, Europe, Canada and all across the continental United States and Hawaii.
