Do you remember the little “action” song with motions in Sunday School: “Father Abraham had many sons; many sons had father Abraham. I am one of them and so are you, so let’s just praise the Lord.” I’m amazed how much theological truth is crammed into those few short lines! This is, in effect, the song that Paul will sing throughout Romans 4 as he points out that Abraham is not just the father of the Jews . . . He is our father as well. Stephen exhorts us to join God’s children everywhere in that fitting refrain: “let’s just praise the Lord!”
