Apologetics with Joe Six-Pack

August 11, 2010
How to Talk to Your Neighbor Too often, when we are talking apologetics, we're preparing our people to speak to Martians, or worse yet, professors of philosophy at the university level. Or, we're using arguments constructed by Thomas Aquinas to reach people who lived in a Christian milieu eight hundred years ago. But how do you speak to the average guy RIGHT NOW about what he believes and about what you believe? Wes Moore from Evidence America joins Kevin Swanson on this segment of Generations for a warm-hearted discussion on reaching your neighbor with a message from the true and living God!

24 Hours with Jack Bauer Inception makes for an interesting movie, but what’s the worldview? Kevin Swanson reviews this movie that plays with reality and the pseudo-realities that we live in today. Then, Kevin Swanson takes 24 hours with Jack Bauer, the ultimate pragmatist and chief apologist for torture. Will Jack Bauer take us down the road to the Nazi’s and other governments that sanction torture for citizens accused of a crime, or not accused of a crime? Christians especially, beware! In the end, it may be the Republicans that advocate torture of Christians.

Celebrating Diversity Does Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s definition of diversity include a mosque at ground zero, and human sacrifice in downtown Manhattan? And what’s this camp for transvestite kids? Here Kevin Swanson visits the zoo again, and throws out a little biblical sense to a world coming apart in its wild celebration of diversity.

When Theistic Evolutionists Deny the Faith Beware! For those who believe in the old-earth evolutionary schemes, Kevin and Dave are just a few more of those “fundamentalist curmudgeons,” touting a PhD from Billy Bob’s Bible College, decked out in their high-wading trousers and taped-up, horn-rimmed glasses. Being as they are fundamentalists and all, they seem reticent to join the “vibrant dance of faith and science.” We're talking about the back cover of the most recent World Magazine, which advertises a “Vibrant Dance of Faith and Science Conference,” pulling together a motley assembly of Old-Earthers, Theistic-Evolutionists, and Bio-Logosites. So Kevin Swanson presents what he calls "a prioritized hierarchy of non-negotiables" in relation to the creation-flood story, on this edition of Generations. What pieces of orthodoxy can you toss over the edge of the boat, before the faith goes glub-glub? Or put another way, at what point does the epistemological authority of God’s Word die the death of a one thousand qualifications?

Is America's Shameful Experiment with Eugenics Over Yet? What could be classified the most controversial and shocking expose of the American "family planning" industry and eugenics movement is the subject of a new documentary produced by Life Dynamics. Trace the roots of the modern abortion and family planning industries, and you will find a huge network of eugenics organizations, powerful foundations, elitists committed to racism, direct connections with Nazi Germany, and of course, Margaret Sanger. We summarize the 2 1/2 hour documentary in this riveting interview with Producer Mark Crutcher, President of Life Dynamics.

Hyperbole or Reality? A respectable economist posts an article on the front page of America's #1 on-line news source, suggesting the possibility of America failing by 2017. Confidence in the system is waning. Hope for the future is dismal. But what about us? Kevin Swanson gives reasons why we continue to feel a strong surge of optimism and hope for the future. But that's because we don't share the religion or the worldview perspective of the empire (as taught in the government- funded schools).

Interview: Author, David Gordon It’s post-modern. It’s hip. It’s new. It’s "contemporary." It’s a revolution! Over the last 30 years, we have seen a total revolution of the music in the Church, representing a change more significant than any change seen in five hundred years! Is this a good thing or bad thing? Now there is an important question – a one billion dollar question. Does this radical change in culture and music indicate a wonderful reformation and revival in the church, among our teens, or is it just more of the breakdown of the institution of the family, generational continuity, and culture. Is it a breakdown of the faith? Dr. David Gordon, professor of Religion and Greek at Grove City College addresses these questions with a thoughtful new book, “Why Johnny Can’t Sing Hymns,” and he interacts with host Kevin Swanson on this edition of Generations.

Challenging our Children to Live History History is filled with conflict between liberty and tyranny, righteousness and wickedness. There are the heroes and the tyrants to be found in our own history as well. Kevin Swanson interviews Pete Olson from visionheirs.com on the rich heritage of this country - formed during the 800-year slide into humanism in the west. What can our children learn from history, and how can it impact their future?

Playing Church An Anglican church in Toronto just got a little too "inclusive," when the "priestess" decided to include a dog in the communion. What is called when people do not fear God anymore, and do not fear His Word, and do not reverence the keys, and do not see any need or relevance for the church? It's called "leaving the faith." At the end, there may be a few people playing church in their homes or church buildings. But this is all part of the erosion of the church in Europe, Canada, and America. Kevin also discusses the part revivalism did in destroying the relevance and importance of the church.

American colleges give preferences to minorities over achievers, businesses' top three hiring criterion are experience, pride and good looks. Notice what did not make the list honesty, diligence and humility, in other words character. Is Ben Stein correct when he writes that generally those laid-off in the current recession have either poor work habits or bad social skills? Without character, the prospects of war loom large and the potential of prevailing is about as good as the Congress passing a balanced budget. In this edition of Generations, Kevin and Dave discuss the loss of character and how to get it back.
