The One Thing

Romans 15:13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

A question - what's the one thing missing in your life.  I mean, if you had to name just one thing that you'd really, really like to have - what would it be?

So - what would it be?  A relationship? I'd love to be married…. I wish I had a better marriage…. I wish I could get on with my two teenagers.

A better job, a better boss?  Just a few more thousand a year for those little luxuries.  What would it be?

We all have that on thing……if only I could have……

But deep, deep down, you and I both know that, well, if we had that thing, then there'd be another thing on the list.  And another.  And another.

When all along - what we really, really hunger for - is just like an inner peace.  A joy.  That thing deep inside that makes life worth living - whatever is going on outside. 

Maybe, that's why Jesus kept saying - "I've come to give you joy.  Peace."
