References: Ephesians 2
Can an outsider have a place in God's tapestry? Ephesians 2 addresses the differences between two groups of people: the Jews and the Gentiles. Gentiles are people belonging to the non-Jewish nations; Jews are those descended from Israel, God's covenant people from Old Testament times. The Jews relied on their ancestry, their obedience to Mosaic Law and circumcision to be their salvation. The Gentiles thought any religiosity could be their salvation; they didn't even have the benefit of a historical covenant relationship with God. They had all the disadvantages and were seemingly without hope of spiritual life or a relationship with God.
