In I Kings we are introduced to a generation of idolaters, immoral deviants, and child sacrificers . . . and God was absolutely silent. Queen Jezebel was paying the salaries of false prophets; Obadiah, the leading Jewish prophet, was hiding one hundred of his understudies away in caves. What a bleak day for believers!
