First of all, we wish you a Merry Christmas on behalf of Pastor Jeff and the Sound Doctrine staff. The holidays can bring out the best or the worst in people at times. During the first Christmas it was safe to say, humanity’s best left a lot to be desired. Pastor Jeff reminds us that for Mary and Joseph their challenges in getting to Bethlehem, God was working through their circumstances not just to provide them relief, but salvation for the world. The watchword of the church is to preach the Gospel. Be ready in season and out of season. Paul told Timothy that preaching the Word involves convincing, rebuking, and encouraging patiently as we let others know the hope we have in the Lord. It’s not difficult to believe there is a God who loves others because we don’t know what they’ve done. If He knows how to communicate to the world, chances are good He knows how to speak to us as well. As Pastor Jeff outlines the steps and principles that are in our study with Peter and the vision, he helps us to see God’s Spirit is able to lead and direct us where He wants us to go as well. His will and direction are characterized by the peace of God, not a fear produced within us. The Bible tells us that God is sovereign; He possesses supreme power over everything. Not only is He sovereign, but His sovereignty is actively working in the lives of His people. When we tend at times think that something is out of control, Pastor Jeff says that God can give us visions to help us to understand and peer behind the spiritual curtain to see what’s really taking place and how the Lord is working through it. Respected soldier, and man who feared God with his whole household, Cornelius had a date with destiny. As he received the salvation in Jesus Christ, not only did Cornelius come to know the Lord, but his household as well. Pastor Jeff shows the powerful impact that his salvation had on those around him. And he shows how simply being religious wasn’t enough for Cornelius to have salvation in Christ. When it comes to showing His love to the world, the Lord moved Peter to share the Gospel with the Gentiles. And when they received the word, salvation came to that house.
