The Last Days
God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds....
Hebrews 1:1-2
We are living in the Last Days! Interestingly, the term Last Days or Last Times is found in many places in the Bible. It relates to the time period of the Church before Jesus Christ returns. A good description of these perilous times is given in 2 Timothy 3:1-7:
But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: for men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
The term Last Days is also used in James 5:2-3. The Apostle James spoke about people who hoard riches, but gold and silver will not be dependable, these treasures will become as nothing in the Last Days:
Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are moth-eaten. Your gold and silver are corroded, and their corrosion will be a witness against you and will eat your flesh like fire. You have heaped up treasure in the last days.
Then in Jude 17-18, we are told of people who will mock and walk in carnality––ungodly lusts. As Christians, in these Last Days, we must walk worthy of our call and always be ready for the return of Jesus Christ.
I do believe that we are living in the last days. I know this has been said before but there are events happening in our world right now that, to me, are what we call signs of the times.
