Father’s Day
...Job would send and sanctify them, [seven sons; three daughters] and he would rise early in the morning and offer burnt offerings according to the number of them all. For Job said, “It may be that my sons have sinned and cursed God in their hearts.” Thus Job did regularly.
Job 1:5
Today is Father’s Day, and sons and daughters will gather together to celebrate their dads. Godly fathers are the spiritual leaders of the family. Dad sets the tone of the home through his loving leadership and creates a special bond among his family. A good father will make a home stable, secure and strong. Dedicated in their duty, hardworking fathers provide for the needs of their families. Many fathers have, at times, worked two jobs. He desires to see his kids enjoy the benefits of his labor. Dad’s watch out for their kid’s future. He does all he can to give them a fighting chance in this world.
As a father, Job was no different. On his knees, before the Lord, he prayed for his ten children’s welfare. His priestly prayers were uttered regularly for them all. As a praying father, he was interceding for them in case they fell short and sinned against God in their hearts.
If this describes your father, you are very blessed. Honor him this day and take time to appreciate all he has done in giving you a firm foundation on which to build your future. He has invested in your life spiritually. He has loved and supported you as a child, and, been there for you when you needed him, even into your adulthood. It is only right that today you show him your loving appreciation.
Sometimes father’s fail. Forgive your dad. Show him the love of Christ, and, if possible, renew the broken relationship. Pursue peace. Again, honor your father whether your relationship is good or estranged, and leave the rest in God’s hands.
A good father is one of the most unsung, unpraised, unnoticed, and yet one of the most valuable assets in our society.
