An Appointed Preacher
...for which I was appointed a preacher and an apostle—I am speaking the truth in Christ and not lying—a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.
1 Timothy 2:7
Reflecting back on Christ who paid the ransom for his sin, Paul explained how it had changed his own personal life. He knew that because of Jesus’ sacrifice he was appointed a preacher––to proclaim the Good News to those who were not saved. Secondly, he was called to be an apostle––a missionary––an ambassador for the sake of the Gospel.
Thirdly, Paul became an amazing teacher of the Word of God––a theologian. He was able to equip and perfect the saints––believers in Christ. Paul was able to give them the “meat of the Word.” He taught them solid doctrine. His students were well nourished in the Word. They grew in the knowledge of God’s great love and grace for them. Fourthly, Paul was ordained by God to share the Gospel with the Gentiles in faith and in truth. I hope that as a Christian, you are living a life of faith; rooted and grounded in the truth of God’s Word.
Reflect for a moment on the difference the Gospel has made in your own life. Jesus paid for your ransom. The Son of God willingly left His home in heaven to die on the Cross for your sins. He perfectly demonstrated His love for you by paying the cost. He loved you that much! Value your salvation; it cost Him everything: For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich (2 Corinthians 8:9).
Galatians 1:3-5 gives you a deeper appreciation of what Christ has done for you and me:
Grace to you and peace from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father....
Why not spend some time thanking God for everything that Jesus Christ has accomplished for you and me when He paid the ransom for our sin?
“...the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life a ransom for many.”
~Matthew 20:28~
